Cracking video, Jon. I quit coffee 3 weeks ago. One thing that always pushed me back to coffee was simply that everywhere you look there is pro coffee propaganda “it gives you energy, it makes you focus, it makes you cool” but it’s basically a tool to make workers perform mundane tasks. I am so calm with a sense of self I haven’t had in a long time. I know who I am, I know what I want and I’m healthier than I’ve been in years. My skin, and hair look great. I’ve also shed a ton of abdominal weight despite eating loads!

I've been on coffee for 25 years or so. It wasn't enough mental stimulation so I added nicotine lozenges. That wasn't enough stimulation so I added kratom. I was on all three of those things for 3-5 years but I couldn't figure out why I was so depressed and had no enthusiasm for life. Soon, I realized that kratom was killing me so I quit (5 weeks ago). That was awful. The withdrawal feels deeply emotional, like a heartache. I felt like I got dumped by someone I loved. After a couple weeks it went away. Then I realized that caffeine and nicotine are also not helping me so I quit both of them 3 days ago. Compared to kratom these are easy to quit, but still difficult. I am now very averse to addictions. If anything hurts when you stop doing it then it owns you.

Glad you found some value in this video! I have started to adopt the mantra that 'food is mood' and that if I am feeling bad, I most likely ingested something that doesn't work well with my body.

@@JonBear Something to research deeper perhaps. There are 2 resources that might be interesting to you. First of all is Michael Pollen, known for the book "How to change your mind" but before that known to be a professor of food (Probably had a more fancier title, I just came up with that) at Berkeley university. Another is the practice of Ayurveda, a yogic path of food intake. Claiming that anything that is being accepted into your being has spiritual value and properties.

@@MarcelClobus Thank you for the book recommendation! I read a lot and put it on my list. I want to read more about Ayuveda. I see the value of having a world view where everything you eat is something you 'accept' into your body. Gives one a pause for thought before going to some cheap junk food when in a rush

I like your emphasis on allowing yourself to enjoy a cup of coffee and enjoy it well when you have control over your addiction. Completely cutting off what you love will not help with your state of mind in the long run.

It is indeed good to not have a coffee every day. As you said, the boost effect you get from a coffee is really impressive when you aren't used to coffee. I think it is a good "last minute work" beverage that you can drink if you have urgent work to do that can't be done tomorrow but the fatigue just keeps staying

Good job man, people who drink caffeine everyday are every morning at 50% and need to drink coffee all day to get to 80% its called reverse withdrawl i think, but because you remove te withdrawl with drinking it you thinking you get a boost but actually youre still lower energy than people who never drink caffeine. Watch out with the every now and then i did that too for a while but after a while it gets more and more, before you know it youre drinking daily again.

I think it might have gone down better if you'd tapered for a longer period, instead of rushing to get totally off. I spent years drinking a mix of Teeccino herbal coffee and coffee or decaf, and it is funny how once you're totally adjusted. you realize you actually sleep better and wake up refreshed, weirdly not needing coffee any more

Thanks for this Jon, it was really useful even if you are just doing it to shill your tea thingy. #LuverlyKappaTea I think I'm going to try to do the same trick with the decaff mixing now. Hopefully this also works with instant coffees. Finally, I'm a bit disappointed by your recent lack of volcano coverage. Could you please use your Dragon Reborn channelling powers to create a new volcano in Iceland and then get lots of drone footage of it? Thanks in advance.

I am glad you enjoyed Jamie! Just to be clear, I did it for personal reasons. Promoting my Tea is not the motivation :) Glad you're gonna give it a go! All things are good in moderation. :) One coffee a day, keeps the mind degradation away! lol. I personally am not a morning person and a cup of coffee (1 shot in a 400ml milk mug) to bridge waking up and my body producing enough hormones to be awake. Beyond that, drinking more doesn't do anything and I rarely drink a second cup. Get enough sleep and it will give you more benefits. None of us like to sleep, society pressures you to work more and sleep less, but your body needs it, especially long term. Eat, love, rest. Peace bro!

Not true, i only drank coffee 1st thing in the morning and quit around 8am while i was an addict. Caffiene has a long half life, if you drink it everyday, it is in your system at basically all times. If you need it to wake up in the morning, your almost certainly an addict.
@OdelliaFirebird
@OdelliaFirebird 4 ай бұрын
@@cbilljones I started drinking at the age of 30 because I finally found the right kind for me. Waking up in the morning was hard since I was a child as I am a night owl. I often don’t drink coffee when I travel because they don’t have what I like and don’t feel any different. The quantity of caffeine in the cup matters. Saying any amount is addictive is like saying any amount of candy or even water is addictive. The more you drink water the more you will need it. I wonder why.
