I’m sitting here 3 claws deep w a buzz, grilling some ribeyes, and where I’m at in Oregon and Idaho we are starting to get some pike showing up and everyone is freaking out that our fisheries are doomed.. how does Maine seem to adequately handle this invasive species… is the Pacific Northwest overreacting ? Love your content Jon!
@JonBrollin2 жыл бұрын
sounds like youre living life man! From what I understand in the early spring they've put nets are the inflows of streams and rivers in some lakes to capture/kill the pike. A lot of lakes around me will have kill derbys for them as well during the open water and ice fishing season. I'm not sure if its going to completely fix the issue but im sure it helps to an extent
@jackdigirolamo31232 жыл бұрын
I did a research paper last year talking about the pikes in the Belgrade Lakes (basically one of the first places they were thought to be introduced in Maine,1970’s). Since then, there has been a drop in the shad, and a major drop in the number of pickerel. They span like rabbits though, so it is literally impossible to get them out of a lake once they are introduced.
@brettmyers70542 жыл бұрын
@@JonBrollin I have literally never heard of this, here in Northeast Indiana... They're no more than a bigger stronger toothy aggressive bass to most I know, they're pretty plentiful in the St Joseph River where I grew up catfish and pike fishing.. pretty crazy people have to kill them. The only thing we kill off commonly are common carp.
