So many people don't like the tone of her voice now. Her years of smoking took its toll on her vocal cords but personally, I love the tone of her voice now, better than when she was younger. When you listen to the lyrics of "Both Sides Now" & compare her original version to today's version you realize that it was written by a young person who hadn't experienced life fully & now, that same person has, & she was able to make it through to the other side. What a beautiful life journey, & she shared it with us.

@@dee_dee_place So do you think people even compare Bob Dylan's voice now to what it was when he was in his twenties? Nope. It's an inappropriate judgement of a woman that makes me disappointed in people who pull that crap. Cher's voice has changed as she's gotten older. Bonnie Raitt's voice is different, if you compare it from when she was in her twenties. Dionne Warwick's voice is different but it's still a beautiful voice. It's the QUALITY OF THE DELIVERY that matters.

Wow! This is wonderful! And the fact that she played her guitar again! People who are not guitar players probably don't realize what an incredible guitarist she is. The average person thinks that heavy metal shredders are great players, and many of them have great technique. But Joni belongs to a special pantheon of players that play the instrument in their own unique way. No one else plays like she does. In a world where everything seems so terrible these days seeing Joni playing and singing in front of a live audience is the best thing I have seen in a very long time.

As a musician myself, I also can't forget to mention Paul Simon here: I'm always in awe of his ability to hold a crowd with incredibly intimate-sounding music, totally exposed to any tiny mistake in either playing or singing (which doesn't seem to make him nervous at all!), with the crowds of people listening intently, it's a literal sound of silence in the crowd. Wow! On the flip side, for my fellow musicians out here on KZbin -- see that musical background in the CBS studio? Talk about failing a music theory exam...LOL

Went to various parks, then construction sites, with my younger sister playing the roll of crying, and eventually made it look like she couldn't take it anymore and jumped off a parking structure. Edited, her lying below with Ketchup, and an ambulance going to a nearby hospital. I followed the songs words and got an A Plus! My first and only film.
