Lyrics: Just before our love got lost you said, I am as constant as a northern star And I said, "Constantly in the darkness, Where's that at? If you want me I'll be in the bar." On the back of a cartoon coaster In the blue TV screen light I drew a map of Canada Oh, Canada With your face sketched on it twice. Oh, you're in my blood like holy wine You taste so bitter and so sweet Oh, I could drink a case of you, darling And I would still be on my feet Oh, I would still be on my feet Oh, I am a lonely painter I live in a box of paints. I'm frightened by the devil And I'm drawn to those ones that ain't afraid. I remember that time you told me You said, "Love is touching souls." Surely you touched mine. 'Cause part of you pours out of me In these lines from time to time. Oh, you're in my blood like holy wine You taste so bitter and so sweet. Oh, I could drink a case of you, darling And still I'd be on my feet I would still be on my feet I met a woman She had a mouth like yours She knew your life She knew your devils and your deeds. And she said, "Go to him, stay with him if you can But be prepared to bleed." Oh, but you are in my blood You're my holy wine You're so bitter Bitter and so sweet. Oh, I could drink a case of you darling Still I'd be on my feet I would still be on my feet Writer: Joni Mitchell

For anyone who wants to read for me this song.... He just got off work me. Lying on my back and his head rested between my boobs. Arms wrapped around me. Only 2 pillar candles lighting the room. His eyes closed me singing the song word-for-word. I tickled him with the tips of my fingers on his head, his ears, neck. And tears silently rolling out of my eyes and my thought was "Oh my God, if i died right now i would die happy. This safe feeling, this comfort and happiness that almost makes me sick because it's so foreign to me. And i remember thinking this is what being in love and being loved back feels like". It was truly one of the happiest moments of my life, listening to this song. Now, every time I hear this song its like a dull knife being twisted in an old wound. God, wanting to go back to that exact moment. She says it best when she says so bitter sweet!

I never cared for James Taylor's music - not good, not bad, just not for me. I was listening to this version of A Case of You a few years ago and was captivated by the guitar accompaniment and had to look it up and was astonished that it was James Taylor - here was someone whose music never grabbed me playing what I thought was the perfect acoustic guitar accompaniment for this song - never getting in the way but still noticeable, every note sensitively chosen and wonderfully executed, and adding significantly to one of the best songs ever. His music still doesn't grab me but I have a respect for him I'd never had before and was happy to find out how badly I'd misjudged his obviously great talent.

I ❤️ Joni Mitchell. Forever. She is a Deva, a Bodhisattva, a goddess, and a muse. Her music is far ahead of its time and also timeless. Court and Spark is one of the greatest albums ever made in American music history IMO. In my early twenties I had a cassette tape I played it so often my car radio ate it. I listen to the songs on Court and Spark today and they awaken some of the most deepest emotions--every song lyrics said something new to me in different ages and stages of my life. They're so reflective melancholic, and transcendent, and at the same time so humorous, humane, and poignant. Even at such an early age she seems to have captured every nuance of "The Tragic Sense of Life" (Unanumo) in the human condition.

What a time to grow up!! I will 4ever love Joni, I love her so much that I somehow just knew to Google Joni, 15-20 minutes after she was found unresponsive in 2015 & she was being rushed to the hospital...I prayed and prayed that she would live & be ok. This album was profoundly touching to Joni's fans overcoming the hardships of the social engineering of those times. Some men said too high ptched to listen to. Only the most mysogynistic as it turns out. The "Fems." Love Joni forever, her work broke through the commercial bs & stands in the best of human sentiment. hopefully forever, but, Let's pray for the triumph of the Human Genome FIRST. God bless all poets artists now more than ever. Love to AlMEN

Her voice, her lyrics, intellect and style truly is one of a kind. Of all the others who sing this, I still prefer hearing Joni.
