excellent video! There is another way to clean those coils. I started a little part time business doing it. It's a process for sure, I use a small compressor with various length off- set wands , a shop vac , various brushes. From the front first vacuum then use the compressed air to blow debris to the back. but first cover the back with a drop cloth or a towel (tape it on) then go to the back and reverse the process again, of course then cover the front like I did on the backside. It can take a couple of times but it will come completely clean. It is a pain in the neck (literally!)

Shocked to learn that Matag didn't design in an easier method to clean the coils than to lift the fridge. So now I have to ask my tenants if they mind removing all their food and letting me come in an tilt the fridge to clean. Thanks Maytag.

I just did another one this week. It’s unfortunate.

Yeah, just found out how hard it is and started looking up videos after my leaf blower did very little. I was about ready to use a squirt bottle and see if I could lean them with distilled water with towels underneath but didn’t know about that piece of cardboard. Glad I watched the video before going any further.

Thanks for doing this. What a pain in the neck. I've been trying to figure out how to clean this thing. Maytags "helpful" video shows the guy vacuuming just the very front of the coils. Truly useless. Now for a hand truck. Uggg.

Top tip! My Maytag has a steel bottom with insulation, which adds to the problem.

@@retrotechandelectronics It still wasn't cooling well enough after cleaning the dust and insulation off. I pulled the back cover inside the freezer off, and noticed the evaporator fan wasn't turning. I flicked the fan blade and it came on. Installed a new evap fan, and now its working great.

My mother had an old GE refrigerator that had the coils on the back. It was easy to clean those coils. Recently I cleaned the coils on my Whirlpool refrigerator. I used an old Kirby vacuum cleaner with a crevice tool and a bendable coil brush. I also took off the back panel. I cleaned it the best I could. The only way to clean all the coils, is to tip the fridge on its side as you did. Some people claim that an electric leaf blower works well. I have a Toro leaf blower; I might try that.

I vacuumed the front coils and removed the back and vacuumed the best I could back there. Tried my big Toro leaf blower and got some extra dust bunnies to blow out but it had no effect on those coils.

My Amana ABB1924WEW3 has the same style coil as this machine. The conclusion I came to was I had to lift the machine high enough off the floor or tip it over to get access to the coils to clean them. A side access panel should have been designed into this machine design. Else there is really no good way to clean the coils in the house.
