Hi Jordan, I’m a blue belt who trained consistently for 3 years and then fell away, in the last 3 years I can count on one hand how many times I’ve done jiu-jitsu. Randomly came across one of your videos on my recommended. Your method of teaching through conceptual learning rather than trying to remember a million specific techniques really resonated with me. I was back on the mats 2 days after I watched a bunch of your videos, excited to be back learning. Thank you!

@@JordanTeachesJiujitsuI know you probably won’t see this, but watching your videos made me insanely better. I’ve even had my coach tell me he doesn’t know why I’m as good as I am with such short training. That bit at 2:33, the americana grip escape, is really cool. Reminds me of how you can get a looooot of mileage out of spamming kimura grips, especially in no-gi, in terms of positional control.

100%. They key lock (Kimura and Americana) are such dominate grips. Because it's two arms controlling one. Two is always stronger.

I like the points in the corner, it reminds us how quickly the scoring can go in a match. I don’t personally like the points system but at first it was a way to determine which fighter was in the better position in a self defense situation so I think it can help to keep track of those

Man your videos are amazing, you are precise and efficient with your explanations and could watch your videos for hours and hours (it's 3.40 right now here😂). The points are a really cool feature but as an MMA guy I would love to see also a no-gi roll MMA related keeping strikes in mind and how it's better to adjust for that type of grappling scenario if it's something that interests you. Keep it up man you are one of the best fighting channels on KZbin and probably the best in BJJ, congrats from Italy!

1. You have to address what is preventing you from doing what you want to do. 2. Position first. 3. Higher hips win the scramble. 4. You can't go through frames; you have to collapse or go around them. 5. In armbar get your leg over the head or grip the leg before leaning back. 6. Grips need to be purposeful.

Man... That little comment at the end about being able to cross your feet for the armbar and that the notion a myth... I have ALWAYS felt this way. Plus it keeps your opponent from peeling off the top leg. Years ago I was going over the gracie blue belt combative system, and in the video Rener says to not cross your feet. I never understood why a Gracie would say that...

I think a lot of people just teach things the way they were taught rather than teach what they actually do. It's not on purpose either. There's only some specific times it's not great to cross them but more times than not it's a wise thing to do.
