Cyber Internship
Hey everyone, it's Josh, your friendly cyber security professional! 👨‍💻 I'm excited to share an incredible opportunity with you today - the Cyber Security Internship Program. 🚀 In this video, I'll walk you through why I created this program, what you'll be doing as an intern, what you can expect to gain from it, and how you can apply. 🎓
👨‍🏫 Why the Internship Program?
First and foremost, I want to be transparent: This internship is unpaid, and it's designed solely for your educational benefit and to boost your resume. 📚💼 As we all know, the world of cyber security is facing a major catch-22 issue. You need experience to land a job, but you need a job to gain experience. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), there's a growing demand for cyber security professionals, but there's a shortage of skilled individuals with practical experience.
My Hands-On Cloud Security course is designed to provide you with real-world experience and build your security skills. However, the internship is specifically crafted to give you that crucial "experience" to showcase on your resume. 📝 This is what employers look for when hiring, and I'll show you exactly how this program can help you achieve that.
👨‍💼 What You'll Be Doing
Once you become an intern, you'll be part of a special group within our Discord community, " 🌐 Our Discord community boasts over a thousand students, and you'll play a vital role in helping your fellow students by providing answers to their technical questions related to the course, whether it's about logging into a virtual machine, configuring security settings, querying logs in the SIEM, or generating alerts.
When students have questions, instead of reaching out to me directly, they'll tag "Josh + Interns," and whoever is available will provide assistance. 🆘 After helping a student solve their issue, you'll record your interaction in our assistance tracking spreadsheet, including the date, the topic you assisted with, and a link to the Discord thread where the help was provided.
Here's the best part: This internship is incredibly flexible. Since it's remote and conducted over Discord, there's no fixed schedule. You rely on notifications to assist students whenever you have time. 🕒
Once you've successfully provided assistance to ten students, all you need to do is send us an email using the provided email address on the assist tracking spreadsheet. We'll review your work and, upon verification, I'll personally provide you with my contact details to serve as a reference for your future endeavors. 📧
📊 Titles and Progression
Depending on the number of assists you complete, you can give yourself different titles to showcase your growing expertise. For example:
0 to 10 assists: Cyber Security Support Technician
11 to 20 assists: Support Analyst
21 to 30 or more assists: Cyber Security Support Engineer
Each title reflects your increasing knowledge and experience in the field. The more you assist, the more valuable your resume becomes. 📈
📩 How to Apply
To join the internship program, here are the steps:
Enroll in and complete the Hands-On Cloud Security course at:
joshmadakor.tech/cyber
Successfully pass the assessment, which covers topics from the course.
You'll receive the internship assist tracking template.
Fill out the template and agree to the terms.
Start assisting your fellow students on Discord and record your interactions.
Once you've completed ten assists, email us using the provided address for verification.
🤝 Job Guarantee?
I want to be clear - no job is guaranteed through this program. However, I have a track record of helping students land jobs in the cybersecurity field. By completing this course and excelling in the internship program, you'll emerge as an exceptionally strong candidate. Your resume will shine, and you'll have practical skills, a valuable portfolio, and even some free certifications to bolster your qualifications.
While nothing is guaranteed, this program will significantly improve your chances of finding a job in cyber security. 🌟

I worked as a SOC analysis for one year with a huge company and then they did huge layoffs; and because one year of experience didn't cut it for literally 99.9% of the jobs in the market now, I haven't gotten any bites for job offers after applying to close to 60 jobs. Plus, all the intern programs I have seen require you to be a student and have either a STEM or IT major. This is an EPIC move and potentially life changing for people! I hope everyone realizes what Mr. Madakor has just done. What a blessing, thank you!

@@alienboogieman Depends where you want to go within your cyber career. From what I've gathered from this video, it seems this internship is specifically tailored to skills relating to a security operations center job. You will get introduced to foundational ideas in addition to the vital hands-on EXPERIENCE (me screaming! ). If you're fresh into cyber, don't know which route to take, don't have thousands of dollars for a bootcamp but want to begin gaining real life experience then this is something to strongly consider. For what Mr. Madakor is offering, I think it's well worth it if it aligns with your situation.

(CONTEST WILL RUN FOR THE FIRST 48 HOURS OF VIDEO PUBLISH) Subscribe to the channel. I do these giveaways occasionally and will continue to do it, assuming people behave. Use the bell if you want to get notified. Step 2. Make a comment with the word “CYBER10” in it below. WITHIN your comment, if you agree or disagree with any of the points I’m making, let me know (or if you have anything to add). The purpose of my channel (and this video) is to help educate people, and I want the stuff I’m saying to be corroborated or criticized to maintain authenticity. Step 3. I will use a Python script to look for CYBER10 in the comments and randomly select a maximum of TEN different winners. A single person IS ALLOWED to win a maximum of two times ($200 winnings max per person). After you win, I will respond to your comment and ask you to put your email address in your KZbin profile. I will check 24 hours later, and start sending out the gift cards. Step 4. If you win, do NOT get impatient and spam my email or the comments, demanding your money. We are properly tracking everything and all past winners can be seen here: Current_Winners_Pending_Payment_Info If you spam me or the comments or claim scam, I will 100% not give you anything, have my manager block you, remove your comments, and give your winnings to the next person. @JoshMadakor
@JoshMadakor 5 ай бұрын
The idea is that Cyber is not really entry-level, so I recommend having some baseline cyber knowledge--it doesn't have to be W2/job experience, but some kind of experience will be best. (For example, having gone through Google's cybersecurity program would be good: joshmadakor.tech/google ). There are no hard requirements for joining the course though. I have implemented a few things to help with the lack of experience, such as the internship component I mentioned in this video ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/j5yyi6qofclgl6Msi=fklhbIpPRckrpbUe ) as well as the Sec+ Anki Deck. If you are brand-brand new, the IT course is a good bet and will get you acclimated to computing and Azure/Cloud: joshmadakor.tech/it If you feel comfy and you are fine with the Cyber learning curve, I would check out the explanation video on the landing page if you haven’t already: joshmadakor.tech/cyber And as for if you can get a job with just the cyber course, you definitely can, but if you are brand new to IT, I recommend applying to BOTH IT jobs AND Cyber jobs and not necessarily holding out for only Cyber Jobs. But yes you can get a job if you follow the course and implement everything and are flexible with your first job. Hope this helps!

Hey thanks! I was actually planning to answer your questions in a video (still will), but basically I realized me and my coworker were wasting a lot of labor doing tech support. Actually we don't need that experience, but ALL of the students do, so I was suddenly like, "wow...the students should be doing this!", and came up with that idea. Not to mention it saves me a lot of energy, which is actually a big plus, turns out 😆

Would you recommend this for someone that wants to specialize into Cyber Security but is currently roughly a 6 year IT generalist?

Hey Josh! Question, I always want to seek this path of cybersecurity, but I have no experience whatsoever in this field, would you recommend me to take this internship? Please honest answer from you, money is not an issue, but I don't want to enter the program and not understanding anything. Also I just started a bachelor degree in cybersecurity (a week ago) this is the only experience I have.

Hey! Definitely check this video out, I think it will give some good context on getting into cyber security and the areas you need to be aware of (resume, portfolio, interview skill, etc.) kzbin.info/www/bejne/bYGzpKicl697nrc IDEALLY, before taking my course, people would have at least Security+ level of knowledge, or at least some knowledge of cybersecurity. Though without it, you'll be OK, the learning curve will just be steeper. It sounds like you're just getting started with your studies! I definitely do recommend you to do the course and internship, but maybe only when you are ready or have enough free time. The course is for fast tracking yourself into a job, so you could use that for planning/timing haha.

Just stumbled upon this video, I have a question. Is this course intended for people that have 0 IT experience or is it for someone that should have a little bit of experience? From all the videos i have been watching, it seems like the general roadmap is get a help desk job, then work on CompTIAA +, then Security +, then maybe CCNA, then from there on you can branch out. I am interested in the course because i want a career change, but wasn't sure if it was right for me. Thanks

This course is essentially for people with Security+ level knowledge, you want to go from just having the cert to being able to land a job in security. However a lot of new people have taken the course, just understand the learning curve is going to be a little bit steeper. You can also take this course and find a decent quality "normal" IT job (help desk, etc.) as well :)

Would you recommend or would you oppose doing your program while arresting WGU ? Bc I’m going thru WGU for my degree in cloud but I would like to do your program just to learn more and get more hands on experience plus the internship which I really need.

Hey, for ZERO experience, I recommend doing CourseCareers IT course instead joshmadakor.tech/it If you really want to take the cyber course cold, you COULD, but it helps a lot to have some security fundamental knowledge first. Like going through the Google course would help with this, or getting Sec+: joshmadakor.tech/google Hope this helps!

I’m a truck driver for 18 yrs. I’m 51 years old. I went to school 20 year s at Penn State for engineering did about 70 credits but some school would not take some courses that were 10 yrs old. I obtain an IT profession cert from Google. I’m on the Linux portion of the Google cyber cert. I obtain the Qualys cert.. Lastly I recently took 18 more credits from Sophia. Liberty accepted most credits. . I,m 45 credits from a bachelor in information systems. I am around about 35 credit from a Supply chain degree fro University of Maine. Just want to know if I’m on the right path. However I have a big typing weakness. Would that be a problem in IT.
@JoshMadakor

You are on a good path! You don't need to type FAST to be in IT, just a reasonable speed. Even 15 wpm is probably fine. I'd def watch this video so you can be aware of other areas to address before you start job hunting! kzbin.info/www/bejne/bYGzpKicl697nrc Great work thus far!

Hey! It's exactly the same, but for the cyber course I added some internship verbiage to the students' assist tracking spreadsheet that they have to acknowledge. Nothing serious! In fact, this is it here, haha: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1MOglvrt7DGhcDwKNMhrMgnbco0rVNABd6qbOnwMW1wA/edit#gid=105771872 I tried to look up how to legally make an internship, and there weren't really any laws, just some guidance, so I took the guidance and put it on that spreadsheet, heh
