I think the internship could be done a little better. I know discord has a ticketing bot. I think it would be better if people submitted a ticket for legit issues around the course and the interns could claim them like a normal help desk so 20 people are not answering the same person trying to claim it

This is one of the best cybersecurity courses out there hands down. The most important thing people are missing trying to break in is hands on experience. Josh's course is providing that with hands on labs and an internship to help reinforce what you are learning. On top of that...the course is only $500. People are out here spending big racks on courses and not getting as much value as this man is providing. ...And he doesn't have to do any of this but yet he is. Mad respect.

I can't take anyone who refers to anyone by their Last name in a KZbin comment section seriously. You are the most honest creator i love in IT. People love to just insert their opinion anytime someone in the community want to help others monetarily. They don't realize how much time goes into this and value are in the course. Shout out to you for being consistent and always helping us!

Regarding payment, if you formed a nonprofit there are some colleges and universities that partner with nonprofits, paying the intern minimum wage through the university itself instead of the employer. All someone would have to typically do is take an internship with a non profit that's performing business in the same state as the university, apply for the approval. Mentioning incase that would be something you'd be interested in.

Currently working to get back to security. Got my comptia security+ and this course with the internship. Also studying for az500 on the side. This course is the only thing I have that can transition me back to the working world and so far it’s been serving me well. I literally started applying on Sunday and I’ve gotten maybe 2 recruiters reach out to me. So it’s definitely working! Keep up the excellent work Josh!

I did the IT course and the internship version of that. It was a big help in fleshing out my new to IT resume. The reference I earned was also very helpful to give me something from an IT professional. My projects for my portfolio were very useful but the internship and reference were invaluable. Also the fact that you can do the internship work any time of day around your other activities is huge.

Finding Josh has sort of felt like having a secret weapon in my IT journey lol. I took his first course and landed my first IT job. Currently I'm a Support Specialist, but I'm in process of getting my Cybersecurity degree. Am I going to take this course too? Of course I am. Been planning to as soon as I'm closer to the end of my degree because being able to show experience is all employers care about. They don't care if it's paid or you're just making an effort. That's all they want. Seriously. Show you want it. When everyone else is being lazy and expecting to be handed something, be the person who went above and beyond.

Josh, thank you for making such great content. I've been in IT for over 10 years, and I can say that someone with hands on experience whether paid or not are looked at closely for job opportunities. Every company/organization usually has their own setup (cloud provider, SIEM, log server, OS, etc.) and are always changing. Seeing a resume with experience with possibly either the old setup (cloud provider, SEIM, log server, OS, etc.) and or the new setup (cloud provider, SEIM, log server, OS, etc.) always helps. Thank you for providing the internship for students who are willing to put in the extra work. Seeing someone willing to do "free work" for experience or get in the door shows about a person.

Josh I’m just going to go out on a limb here and say “ I bet the individual person who made such comment about your POWERFUL internship/course “ is about 25yr old or younger because I’ve noticed that particular age group (Although NOT ALL) are unwilling to commit or put in dedication for ANYTHING they cannot perceive in a short goal. Therefore because they are simply impatient they complain! Which makes me wonder did their parents discipline them when they threw fits because they didn’t get their way? What I did was directly message the talent acquisition teams for companies with help desk openings on linkedin, I had also applied to over 800 jobs with few callbacks. When I started to do that they would reconsider my application if it was rejected and would reach out to me directly for an interview. When I started doing this, I got 16 call backs / interview requests per 40 applications.

The viewer who had concerns must know time is valuable and Yes a cost should be given for your time and the time of your staff. If they do not want the course that’s a personal choice. Josh you bring true value and it’s brilliant and quite frankly wise to give some experience with the field to give someone a better chance of getting employed. I may have been a special case, but the first company I applied to gave me an interview and I'm still working with them 6 months later. The course was worth it to get into the field. And I must say, having a very high interest in cybersecurity, finding out he has a separate course for that makes me happy and I'll have to check it out. Just gotta get together the money first. =P

The ignorance is all in the questioning . When he got to the area of the internship aspect I really knew this person" attacking" was clueless and disingenuous. The whole concept of paid vs non paid internship as it pertains to impact or not by this classless person shows how absurd they are and foolish they appear🤦🤦. Most colleges for years have instituted volunteer type internships for the students to get experience as an original paradigm and platform into the workforce.

Generally, I am not a fan of unpaid internships but in this case, I think it is a very creative and generous solution to your problem that doubles as an offering to gain experience at no real cost to either party. Sure, you could have added an additional paid staff member to answer more questions, but instead of just helping one person, you're helping hundreds of students be able to put an internship on their resume.

Hey Josh! I haven't purchased the course yet but I've been following you for or so and all of your content is very informative well thought out well taught. I think it would be ridiculous for you to pay for an internship. Internships are about gaining experience and knowledge. For instance if you are an electrical engineer you would do an internship in an industrial Electronics place to learn how to do the things they don't teach you in college such as micro soldering using test equipment and things of that nature. I do have experience with that and we had many interns at the company I used to work for and that's basically what they were there for. I'm almost finished the Google cyber security certificate and once I finished that I'll be purchasing your course and once I'm done that I will become or request to become one of the interns. I think the value of your course is perfect and it allows just about anybody who's interested in getting into cyber security or increasing their knowledge and marketability to get experience in the cyber security space. Please keep doing what you're doing, we your viewers really appreciate it.

Yes, you can get work experience without getting work experience by doing home labs and projects which the IT course and the cybersecurity course contains. For example, setting up an Active Directory in the IT course is not all that different than doing it out in the real world. That shows the employer that you are committed and have the interest in IT/cybersecurity. You would be less of a deer in the head light trying to figure things out with simulated work experience than somebody with absolutely no work experience at all. Tech companies are now recognizing that home labs and projects are considered work experience.

Hey Josh, great video as always! Quick question that’s unrelated: For a Sr Security Engineer with over 5 years experience in the field looking to work their way to CISO level. Do you think getting a BSIT and then a MSCSIA at WGU is a good route? Or would a BSCSIA + MSCSIA be more effective? I’m considering the opportunity cost, and overall employability model you speak of. The reason is because they already have an Associates in IT and are able to transfer more credits to the BSIT and complete it faster. I would love to get your take as I draw great value from your videos. Thanks, Mwangi

This guy probably works at Walmart, maybe a fast food restaurant or at best, Geeksquad. Your hands on lab-based course using actual industry tools gives a student extremely marketable skills. Knowing how to setup and run a SIEM is a skill that many people in CS do not have. It seems to me that your internship is essentially using a ticketing system to answer questions about real world CS tools. Using a ticketing system and documenting your work is a huge part of any IT based job. If you can correctly answer questions about a subject then you have a solid understanding of the material. All of this looks great on a resume if presented correctly. Clearly this viewer is just throwing shade and speaking on a topic they know nothing about!! Keep up the great work.

Hello Josh, Maybe you should consider changing the terminology from 'internship' to 'apprenticeship' since it's not a paid position. I think the terminology might be confusing for most since we are accustomed to internships being paid positions vs apprenticeship being either paid or unpaid to gain experience. Sorry dude but no one is gonna get hired cuz they took a course from a youtuber employers dont know about. You cant even get a job having that google cert on your resume. Job market is awful right now in cyber. Its 08/09 numbers now. Unless you have 20 years experience right now dont even try. I feel bad for recent grads that just got that paper this month. Spend your 500 bucks on a+, net+ and sec+, at least employers know what that is

Your wrong genius 😡!!! If you're disgruntled about your own personal failures in life, keep that misery to yourself!!!!!!✌️

A+ Sec+, etc don’t give you hands-on. Not sure what level you at in this field? People with masters in cybersecurity can’t even score an interview for lock of experience you talking at A+? Do your due diligence; evaluate his course, if it works for you take it, on the contrary, leave it. It is immature to try belittling someone’s efforts.
