@@Numizard I’m not a lawyer so I could be wrong, but as with any contract, if you signup for that, you have to abide by that contract. But it’s true that companies play dirty given there is a lot of competition and handful of quality jobs. I dont work in India anymore, I moved to Canada due to these reasons, but my heart goes out to my fellow indians, who have tremendous potential in them but have to deal with this kind of crap. They deserve better.

The sad reality of this is there are a lot of companies in India who have similar policies like Fluper, sandwhich policies even after complaining that its illegal they still make sure you rot and suffer. In my previous company if you cannot report by 9 AM sharp or before, they will straight away deduct half day and you have to stay the xx/xx amount of minutes/hours inside the office as much you came late for.

I’m a lawyer here in the US and our system is completely messed up too. Delays upon delays. Needless red tape. Small players in the system get crushed. But most important: honesty is not rewarded: it’s punished. I suspect it’s pretty much that way all over the planet. Comparatively, Germany, Italy, Japan have their own reputations, all of those decidedly better than Chinese. Right now, China is suffering a real marketing setback. I won’t voice my verdict on Chinese mindsets that let to this, but the almost indisputable fact remains that it will take a decade at least for China to shed its reputation for embarrassingly poor quality. And it will come. The communists are minting more math students every year than most countries can have children. And despite the rampant cheating, huge swaths of Chinese-and Indian-students are perfectly capable of filling highly technical positions. The fact is, plenty of great schools exist outside of America and produce some of the finest engineers around. It’s just that they don’t have the marketing label. As each year passes, the masses learn that the mystique of the American University degree has lost much of its shine. The 4 year university is no longer a ticket to the front row in life like it once was. The world demands maths, science, engineers. Only the very wealthy and privileged can afford to send their children to an expensive college to learn “the arts.” And steadily, one can learn maths from KZbin and other online learning. So yes, you can pick up a brand name 4 year degree. Think Harvard, Princeton, Cornell. At those Ivies, you mostly buy exclusivity and the privilege to run elbows with future politicians and other socialites. But MIT, Caltech and highly technical schools? They want people who possess technical brains. That can be developed and trained through hard work and discipline. Social privilege? That’s daddy and mommy. And people want social privilege. America is just lucky that we have names like Carnegie-Mellon, etc. Oh, and employment? Our numbers from the BLS-the Bureau of Labor Statistics-are all a joke. One needn’t be a genius in numbers to know that the numbers are all a bunch of crock. The true state of unemployment out there in America’s cities is frightening. It’s probably close to 20 percent and climbing. Our Metropolitan centers are looking like Third World shanty towns. In California, we have about half of this countries homeless laying about in the street. Many of these people are made homeless Simply because of the “invisible hand” and its merciless meanderings. But Adam Smith may have recoiled at the comparison because our politicians were too inept or shackled to do anything substantive about it. No, our employment figures are a complete joke. I wouldn’t be surprised if they were nothing more than bald-faced lies.

This is highly illegal even in india. This company is liable to get sued in india for all its worth. Their policies are against the labour laws of india. You can't keep the original paper work of an employee post verification process. You can't deduct any employees salary more than the leave taken. And maximum weekly work hours can't be more than 52 hours.

There is no legal way your organization can make you work over 52 hours a week. In my organization, we get a compulsory off if we do over 52 hours a week. So if it's 56 we get a half a day's worth in leave and 8 hours more and it's a full day off, and so forth.

Any company with over 50 employees can't do it because the fines will bankrupt the company. And they will be blacklisted. I have been working 12 years now. I am in the engineering R&D field. Trust me this shit doesn't happen a lot. It's only happens in the 1-2% of very small companies, and those are worth working for in the first place.

The thing is there are so many average or below average enginnering graduates in India. If the college or university doesn't provide campus placement properly most of the students look to get a job somehow while starting a career. A decent company never asks for Original documents. I am from India & I have worked in 3 companies. All they wanted is photocopies by mail & original while the verification. The originals were returned on that day itself.

OK this needs to be said: We Indians run behind only one thing: Money. That is the only thing that motivates us. Of course as we grow up and fall into various age brackets, the money morphs into different things: status, respect etc. etc. But in the end it is always money. Honesty, integrity and fair play is something we say we will think about once we "Make it". This is the reason why we cheer rule breakers or dishonest men. In India we don't call dishonest men dishonest, we just call them smart. We make them into our leaders and movie stars and so on. In India the more dishonest you are the more money you can make. This is not a country where 9 times out of 10 you will pay a very heavy price for being honest. Every time we feel that as a country we have a problem we are made to forget it immediately by patriotic songs, some desh bhakti movies, some patriotic speeches or ideas about how great a country India was 100 or 500 years ago(we had so much gold etc. etc.). The reason why such CEOs have popped up is because for every one Indian who will stand up against them there are a million more who will agree to go and work for him thinking that he has the one over you or just because he can make some money. The reason why numerous such CEOs have popped up in India is because we as a country are the same way and if we get the chance, 9 out of 10 of us will want to be like him and boss people around. Think about how many CEOs of the BIG IT companies(you know which IT companies I am talking about) who make people work for peanuts you have hailed or seen the media hail as Tech innovators or Father of Tech in India or Job creators. Say you stand up and tell that guy you wont work for 12 hours.. how many of our own countrymen will be standing to work 13 hours for the same guy? Thousands! Of course we can keep having the false pride about our country and get offended for everything, but we need to remember that the next time you see such an exploiter CEO who is constantly bullying his employees, ask yourself, when was the last time you cheered a bully in a movie theatre, when was the last time you bullied your subordinate, when was the last time you voted for a bully/exploiter ? When was the last time you stood up to such people ? Remember that dirt like these CEOs have spawned from one place and one place only : From amongst us!! Till we understand that, we will keep producing men like these.

It is a problem all over the world. A US court ruled that a company was right to fire an employee who abandoned his truck (company property) to take shelter in a blizzard and not freeze to death. That judge is now sitting on the US Supreme Court. It isn’t a problem unique to India. It is a problem with people in general.

I was selected on the spot after technical round and was sent to senior HR's cabin for all the Terms & Conditions. It was literally like a blackmail they mentioned that they will take your College Degree for 6th months & keep it. Furthermore, The HR said you've to sign a 2-Year bond on a Salary of INR 12K (~USD 145) with upto 30% appraisal per 6 months(Which they are literally not gonna do, I know this.) She even told me that you've to bring your own Laptop 💻 for work , Like what? Is it your work or mine that I'll be doing here in the office! I Said "No" for this last point that i have to bring my own laptop and she said "Thank you you can go, We have a policy that new employees has to bring their own laptop". Im feeling good that for now I've get rid of these policies, But here in India maximum companies are same... I just wish that somehow I land a job in a good company which is very unlikely 😢...
