Yep, Josh is an intelligent, and flawed every-man, which is why we can identify with him. No-one has the perfect Insta-Life as is often portrayed on KZbin, Insta, and other platforms. People are reaching out for more genuine people as content creators. We get his honest perspectives, agree with them or not. I like the fact Josh is thought provoking, gives some life advice, and makes me think...

@@stevewilliams5498 you should look into your local colleges/universities. I started off in computer science and switched to construction, but my school had clubs for different types of businesses, clubs on programming, classes. literally just walk in and ask someone, they're always happy to help teach you. if you don't live in a city then stanford's & MIT's youtube channel has a lot of good lectures. also a guy named Joshua Fluke has some great videos ;)

I suscribed around two days ago. Its incredible how you talk like we were having a private conversation. Most people you see in youtube or instagram show the "perfect" version of them and its very difficult to associate it with your life, so it ends being a superficial entertainment. Sharing private life on such public sites is not for everyone, but for me seeing humanity in a public enviroment is arefreshing experience. I've never had a favorite youtuber until now. Don't worry, I won't ask a pic of your feet.

dude I've been really inspired by your drive to start and run your own business. I worked for a corporate company and even though I technically had a lot of freedom and not much oversight it was killing me inside to show up everyday and waste all that energy that could be used playing music and coding, and cultivating a brand and business. seriously thanks for your enthusiasm and realness, it's contagious.

Congratulations 🎊 Joshua! This is great advice. It takes a while for this whole KZbin thing to work! In August, I hit 1k subscribers and now a month later I’m almost at 3k subscribers! I like that saying, you can be bitter or get better. I’ve had some online success but I still sometimes get ghosted when I reach out to people with bigger audiences then me. I’ve had people ignore my emails, ignore my dms and tweets. It’s really bad on KZbin, 95% of people won’t collab at all unless your the same level as them. Most of the time they won’t even answer you. Or if they do they’ll come on your channel but they won’t allow you on their channel so there is no reciprocity. (I stopped doing these unless it goes both ways) I’ve seen this outside of KZbin too. Once I got interviewed by a fairly big podcast, only to get an email a few weeks later saying they weren’t going to publish it because “it wasn’t good enough”. They refused to give me the chance to re-record it too. When these things happened I would get super salty for sure, but it’s such a waste of energy. I rather spend my energy building my audience creating great content and not worrying about some influencer who ignored me. One day maybe they’ll reach out to me who knows...
@JoshuaFluke15 жыл бұрын
'It wasnt good enough'? For real? I'm curious which it was, but I know you cant say here
@ProgramWithErik5 жыл бұрын
@@JoshuaFluke1 It was a medium to big podcast but it's not super well known outside the Vue / web dev niche. This all started when I cold emailed the creator of the podcast and asked if I could be a guest and talk about Nuxt.js (SSR version of Vue). I just created a course on Nuxt, so it was really fresh in my head, and it was also good promotion for the course. I made that clear from the beginning. I did the interview with him, only plugged the course once or twice at the end and I thought everything went fine. The only warning signs I had was that he was really trying to make the interview super technical. I noticed during the interview he was going through the official API documentation and quizzing me on each part of it. Luckily I caught on half way through the interview and opened up the official documentation and followed along so I could answer his questions. It felt like an interview at times. Anyways, 3 weeks later he responds back that he didn't like how the interview went and he wasn't going to publish it (his fault he said). I asked him to re-record, he said no. And that was it. I emailed him a few times since and he ghosted me. What made me even more salty is that a couple months later he interviewed the official creator of Nuxt.js. The interview was very similar to the one we had. Anyways, like I said, it's not worth the energy getting upset over stuff like that...Just got to keep going :)

Thanks for not only being so real and transparent. But also not being a douche and putting your figures towards the end of your video so that people have no choice but to go through the whole thing or skip past a bunch of parts. Instead you put it in the first 2-3 minutes of a 20+ minute video. That's a detail many people might overlook and not notice when watching, but if it was towards the end people would have noticed. hey man, I started watching your videos and really appreciate your openness, honestly, I'd watch your vids even if you tried to go into travel vlogs or whatever you like to do. you're right, we're all here cause you say things that I'm guessing most of your viewers are also thinking. For example I saw another one of your videos and was already thinking about quitting since I have a good sum of money saved to go travel (wanted to take a 1 year break), but really have no plans on how to continue to make income. I have applied to jobs for the last 4 years to find something with more work/life balance but the field I'm in is very niche, so I haven't been able to find another job to transition to. Anyways, you said to read the book unscripted, I ordered the book and hope to gain some insight in how to make side hussles so I can eventually quit, just one thing is my job requires 40 hours where we report the time we work/do, so it's actually usually any where between 45-50hour weeks, and during busy szn (I work in big 4) its usually 65hours+. any insights on how you managed your time to work out, build your side hussle and keep your regular job? maybe you have a vid on this I haven't seen?
