I was at this concert at the Houston Summit. I was a senior in high school and had already seen them twice before. They put on THE BEST live performances of any band I've ever had the pleasure to see in person. And...I've seen a WHOLE lot of bands over the decades. High-energy perfection!

@@Eurynomea ........ Oh boy!! I can only imagine...lol... I don't remember anything happening back then, when I started going to concerts at the Summit. I saw Journey twice in 1983, when they had 3 sold out shows. But I'll ask him and see what he says. I can't wait to hear what he says...lol...

@@reneeheknowsmyname6771 Most of the crowd would head out on Buffalo Speedway and then proceed to Westheimer and we'd "cruise" for about an hour then go get breakfast at Denny's on 59 & Buff, lol.

💕🎶💥 Released in 1981, this is the first album that included Jonathan Cain, replacing Gregg Rollie, in its lineup. The rest is history. I do love the Steve Smith drumming as well as Neal Schon, on lead guitar 🎸. Each gets to show the mastery of their craft, quite nicely. Of course, Steve Perry's voice is absolutely 💯. It is nice hearing some Journey again, on the channel. There are still a number of songs to be reacted to, in the catalogue. Anxious to get your take on them Hap. Thanks, as always for your enthusiastic reactions. Peace J ✌ ☮ 💕🦂

After that powerful intro, they certainly caught the attention of the crowd. You said it and I thought the same thing with that drum insert. At first I thought he was off beat but instead he sped it up with extra beats - amazing, as was the guitar playing. It must have been a pleasure to attend this unique concert. Thank you Jill for another great suggestion of this tour and HAP for this enthusiastic reaction🥰🙋🏻‍♀.

This song reminds me of blasting this cassette tape in my 74 Mustang on the way to & from high school in Hawaii early 80s to get me pumped up for sports. This became one of my favorite songs from Escape. I got into Journey because of Neal Schon their guitarist, who was playing for Carlos Santana when he was just 15 yrs old. I started to appreciate the rest of the band including Steve Perry.

When compared to other fantastic Journey's songs, for me there's just a bit of more melody, some firm structure missing in this one. And clear lyrics to hold on to (or it may be just the sound of live performance that muffled the words) Other than that, of course, Steve's unique, powerful voice and all musicians in the band always bring the best out of any song! They are the ones who at their worse would still sound so much better live than most of today's bands (with exceptions to the rule :-)

I enjoy your reactions to Journey Hap! You didnt see the part of the video where Steve almost got taken out by Ross Valory ( bass player) with the neck of his guitar. Luckily, Steve dunked his head just in time. Now, that wouldn't be a great start to a MTV show, taking out the PERRY. 😂 great reaction. CHEERS! P.s. it's "Who's Crying Now" .. you were close..😂

Cool version. I still prefer the original. Has a beat, guitar. This does miss a lot. But this is for younger generations probably. Glad that it is Steve Perry singing. He gets the final say in if a Journey and/or a Steve Perry solo song to be used. Like when they used " Don't Stop Believin" they needed all 3 approvals to use it in " The Sopranos " show. Jonathan, Neal gave the approval and only when it got the final approval from Steve they could use it.
