it's not "america" that gives us what we have. it's industrialization, mechanization of production. without that we would live in extreme poverty. before the industrial revolution we, all of northwestern europe, japan, and south korea lived in terrible conditions as well.
@Sovereign_Citizen_LEO6 жыл бұрын
@@abejones9218- It IS America though, because without our Representative Democracy, Constitutional Republic, and Free Market Capitalist economy, our Constitution, property rights (including patents/intellectual property, etc.), we would have never had an Industrial Revolution. And people are very ignorant about who and what built the world, because it was America (primarily) that built the world. Our Constitution enshrined the 2nd Amendment, (and thus the ability to secure our independence). To fight wars against the British, the Founding Fathers knew we needed to be able to produce our own guns and ammunition: Main reason we won the war of 1812. Out of that industry (Firearms), in the Northeast USA, came the American Industrial Revolution, machine tools, and all the innovation, manufacturing, mechanization, etc., that built upon the European Industrial Revolution before it. But after our own Industrial Revolution, Europe was largely built upon OURS. Which helped Europe to become 1st world nations like the USA. But still, our standard of living was higher than most of Europe. Then during and after both WWI and WWII, we came in and fed, clothed, rebuilt, and re-industrialized Europe (never suffering the ravages of war on our own continent), as well as Japan, Korea, China, Russia, and to a lesser extent, about 160 nations around the world in one capacity or another (various infrastructure projects, factories, engineering, project management, architectural designs, etc. etc. etc.) But without our Founding Fathers and the system they invented (in every aspect), we might still be a 2nd or 3rd World nation. America was the first nation (and Constitution) with a Patent System, and the first nation to recognize property rights where your first property was you, - your person (which is important for several reasons and in several contexts, -it's why our human rights were endowed by our creator and protected by our government AS Constitutional Rights [a first in history]) , then private property ownership, and/or intellectual property. So back to the beginning. Our Founders enshrined the 2nd Amendment as the 2nd Amendment, because it was the most important Amendment; It protected the 1st, and all other Amendments in the Constitution. Another first in human history. The United States is far from perfect, but it remains the greatest nation on the face of the earth for these reasons, and for improving the lives and standard of living of Billions of people around the world. bit.ly/2GjPmij

I think you ought to educate yourself as its quite clear you dont know anything about history. China and India were the 2 largest economies in the world for 1600 years (Bangladesh was part of India until the British divided it). It was when the British arrived that it went downhill in India. As for the present day: India is the fastest growing major economy in the world and is already the 3rd largest in the world on a GDP PPP basis. By 2035 India will have overtaken America to be the second largest. China already overtook America 2 years ago. Bangladesh's economy is growing almost as fast as India's and is growing faster than China's. Bottom line is that by 2050 there wont be migrants from these countries trying to go through the jungle to reach western countries. The new world order is actually a return to the old world order.

Ok, so let me make sure I've got this straight... The reporter, cameraman, and Carlos were all traveling together and they knew the only people they could trust for sure was each other. Soooooooooo, they ALLOWED THEMSELVES to all become separated from each other. Reporter notices this, because, you know, he's a reporter, and they are smart like that. A little while after realizing he is alone, his camera is recording him and moving w/o him near it? Then Carlos happens to find him. He never mentions cameraman finding them even though it appears he is there. They need water and have iodine to treat it. Carlos can't wait for a river and drinks from a puddle w/o treating the water with iodine, which reporter has. While "lost", they manage to not only go the right way, but they manage to end up exactly where the migrants are. They were lucky that the Panama guards kept the migrants there until they got there so they could say goodbye. Which group of migrants? Don't know, he didn't say. Because they split into two groups if you remember. Or I guess the Panama guards are really good and caught both and then brought one group to the other. Did I miss anything? No? Ah, ok, good. Just wanted to make sure. It's disgusting when a serious subject like this is presented like a "reality" tv show...

@benfried37458 жыл бұрын
+ SirReptitious and + Dylan Patera. Sorry to be contradictory. I pretty much agree with your comments. I think it must have been very difficult to make this doc. perfectly without some imperfections- namely the staged feeling. When they split into 2 groups, I think that all the migrants went in 1 group and the narrator, guides, Carlos and cameraman followed behind; they were concerned that when stopped by border guards they'd be arrested for aiding the migrants... or did I miss something?
@SirReptitious8 жыл бұрын
SE Asia Scott Yeah, theoretically that could be true. We have no way of knowing what footage was left on the editing room floor. So all we DO have to go on is what they CHOSE to show us. And what they showed us appears to be very scripted and pre-planned. And personally I think it was intentional.

As a Bangladeshi, I really feel sorry for them. But trust me, there are plenty of opportunities here in Bangladesh to make money. According to the IMF, Bangladesh's economy is the second fastest growing major economy of 2016. But the sad part is still people believe in the American Dream and willingly risking their lives to go to USA. And most importantly they choose the wrong path to move to USA and ignoring all the legal ways. I have been to USA twice and every year thousands of people from Bangladesh go to USA legally. I feel very sad after watching this and I believe this is not their fault as they were manipulated by some human trafficking agencies. Hopefully they will come back to Bangladesh safely. And thanks Journeyman Pictures for this documentary. We will use this documentary to create awareness in our country.

I appreciate this documentary so much because you are bringing into awareness what people from other countries must go through just to survive from day to day. What I noticed is that most of them are Muslims praying to Allah. I pray for them to The Most High Almighty and His Son Yahshua. Perhaps while these migrants are traveling they should stop and have prayer meetings, read their bibles and call on God to help. Christians should be amongst them to witness to God for them. Then they will gain strength, courage, spiritual support, and some joy to complete their journey. Satan waits for them while they travel, but without God's protection, Satan will capture them and destroy them. Prayer is the key. Let's pray for these migrants and that God's Will, will be done!🙏🏼

If you're from Cameroon or Bangladesh you might be at least a little accustomed to tropical climates. I would probably die from heat stroke pretty fast. It makes me feel extra for the Nepalese who try this. Regardless of where someone is from, though, it is hard to imagine what it must be like to travel half way around the world, then cross several borders illegally, to then cross through one of the craziest jungle/swamps on the planet.... only to still be more than 5000 km from the border you want to get to with many more drug smuggling gang riddled borders on the way.... only to MAYBE finally get to the USA only to find a country of greedy xenophobes who just want to take advantage of you and blame their problems on you at the same time. Good luck travelers! I hope people get a chance to watch this before they leave their home country.

A bunch of Xenophobes. That's rich considering that the USA has the largest population of migrants in the world. Literally every country is represented in the US, hints why the US is called the melting pot of the world. It's large corporations backed by several politicians on both sides of the political isle (moreso Democrats now which is why the 5 largest companies in the US are liberal) which seek to flood the workforce with unskilled laborers, allowing these large corporations to pay workers far less than necessary. So if that's what you're talking about, sure. But it's not 99% of America that's xenophobic. It's the few elitists who only seek to further their lower and deepen their wallets. Controlling immigration and work visa overstays isn't xenophobia to be clear. That's ensuring that these people aren't trafficking people or drugs throughout the US, giving LEO's the ability to identify those horrific people and stop them. The USA allows the longest Visa stays, has some of the loosest immigration laws (although they need to be streamlined), and offers the best possible quality of life for Asians (who are immigrating in numbers far greater than documented Hispanic immigrants) who are seeking refuge from communism, Hispanics who are seeking asylum from socialism, and Middle Easterners who are seeking asylum from totalitarian maxist regimes. You want xenophobia? Look no further than Russia, China, North Korea, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Iran, South Africa, etc. China literally has millions of people in "workers camps" (concentration camps) for practicing the Abrahamic religions (Islam, Judaism, Christianity), and has millions more fleeing to the west. If the USA was so xenophobic, racist, bigoted, and horrid for people outside of European descent, then you would have a flood of people leaving the US. But the US doesn't. It has always been people running away from Marxism and Totalitarian regimes.

HEART BREAKING. The world isn't getting any better. Hold your faith unto the good Lord and he shall set you free. You can run to the edges of the world by you can't hide. There are problems everywhere and in every country of the world.

Interesting video. You showed our reality. What sad is to see how many issues migrants have to pass looking for better living conditions. Regards and blessings from Panama/☺

My suggestion would be pack a survival kit before you go. Compass, desalinization tablets, mosquito net, and a big knife

Our status in rich countries comes at a cost. What I mean is that for example, the clothes you wearing would cost way more if were made by European hands instead of Bangladeshi rising from maybe 10$ to 50/100$, because you will need to pay at least 10$ hour the person making it instead of 3$ for a day of work in poor countries. Are you willing to pay 100$ for a product instead of 10$ so one Bangladeshi guy can earn 20$ a day instead not feeling the need to migrate? This is just scratching the surface of the topic.

Such a sad story. Makes you realise how fortunate you are not to be in such a position.
