the concrete rings around the pipe are actually weights to keep it where they laid the pipe. in times of high fast moving water they don't want it moving and causing a break.

I have to say the drone footage was my favorite, with that dramatic music made it feel like watching a movie at the theatre. 2nd was a tie between the underwater footage and the refreshing sound of water pouring out of that pipe along the wooded bank. Awesome unexpected explore video JP! That is such a beautiful place and the drone footage is spectacular! My guess on the concrete around the old pipe is to keep it from moving around underwater and breaking. I sure hope they leave that area like it is, they've been removing old dams and locks in my area and returning the rivers to their natural state but I don't like it they have been there for over 100 years and it's just a boring river without them. It even caused a popular ferry ride to shut down because the water isn't deep enough anymore. I wish they would just let the cool old stuff from the 1800's be.

I'm just guessing, but I believe those are concrete collars at the pipe joints. It was possibly done that way, either that is not welded joints or the are there to keep the pipe from being dislodged.

Loved this video...💙👍 great intro .....also, the drone montage was awesome with a perfect choice in music...Such a beautiful area with the wonderful old structures .This may be a "dumb" question but.. " How do they refill the reservoir ? "..Natural spring water ?
@JPVideos81 Жыл бұрын
There's already a source of water feeding into it, mostly likely mountain streams or a mixture of sources. All they need to do is shut the valve that is draining and it will fill up naturally.
@rikspector Жыл бұрын
Jay, That was really enjoyable, by the way, do you know the name of that reservoir, I'd like to research it and the buildings? A lot of work went into the construction and, as you said, it's still somewhat active. Cheers, Rik Spector

This kind of place is right up my alley! I thoroughly enjoyed this one, JP! I wonder what those concrete things covering the pipe are for? Can't wait to see more :) PS: your drone shots were incredible too! inspires me to learn how to fly mine better
@JPVideos81 Жыл бұрын
Guess we both like the same alleys lol. A few people chimed in about the pipe saying it could be natural gas to protect it and someone else said it's weights to keep the pipe in location. Whatever it is, it's my first time seeing it. Glad you enjoyed the flight. Best way to get better is to get in the air and experiment with different shots.
@milesandhikes Жыл бұрын
@@JPVideos81 definitely like the same alleys! Lol Ahh that makes so much sense: weights to keep the pipe down! And yeah, I agree with the drone, I definitely need to put it up in the air way more.
@catherineengle4196 Жыл бұрын
It looks so different there without the normal water. I remember the video you made 3 years ago. It doesn't seam like it's been that long ago. I wonder if where the water is gushing in, there was maybe a collapse on that wall? They had to drain it to fix it. I am just guessing... that is about all I can think of...great video. At times during the aerial footage around those old buildings it looked like you were around an old castle. Lol. I wonder how long it will take to fill. ✌
@JPVideos81 Жыл бұрын
An old castle is exactly what comes to mind. I'd imagine it can fill back up in less than a week.

I wonder if the pipe that has the water coming out is how they fill the lake. Or maybe it’s a run off pipe for something
@JPVideos81 Жыл бұрын
I could be wrong, but I believe the pipe with water draining out is how they drain the lake. It's a way for water to continue flowing once it gets below the spillway. There's most likely an opening or intake somewhere beneath the surface closer to where that foundation is in the water.
