Secret Service showed up a week in advance to set up security. They locked down everything. Every rooftop. Every high window. They blocked every line of sight with barriers or vehicles. They checked EVERYTHING. Now, this was on an Air National Guard base and it wasn't a drill weekend, so there were very few people on base and maybe 3 of them were civilians. This wasn't a public place where you don't know who could be around. He wasn't even doing a speech or shaking hands or anything! He was just going to get off AF-1, get in the car, and leave. Plus, he didn't even show up! They always set up multiple routes and he flew in somewhere else. If they go to that much trouble on a base that is already pretty secure, how do they let something like this happen? In my head, either the Secret Service has really gone to shit in 15 years, or something intentional was going on.
