Model 3 vs Model Y - Do You Need the Space?

After driving the Tesla Model 3 for a couple months, the biggest difference between the two is all about the available space. Having 3 kids, the Model Y provides so much more rear seat room and just as important, a ton more trunk space. The hatchback design allows you the ability to put in large objects in the back with ease.
With that said, the Model 3 was a blast to drive and the new 2024 Model 3 design and features look awesome. For reference, my daughter is 51" tall when recording this.

You have kids….get the model Y. You have teenagers or no kids, a Model 3 is sufficient, and offers several advantages: More fun to drive, better range and consumption, cheaper and it looks much better.

I have driven the new Model 3 "Highland" and it's absolutely a great car i would buy immediately if i was just alone. As i have a family with kids, a dog and want to move some larger stuff around, i ended up buying the Model Y. It's just so much more practical.

If I had three kids I definitely would have gone Y. The driving experience is significantly better in the new M3 imo

After riding as a passenger a bunch of times in Model 3 and Y Ubers, I would say the Y is infinitely more comfortable for someone ~ 6 foot. It's almost hard to crawl out of the backseat of the Model 3 for me.

I’m 5’7” athletic. 170lbs man. The model 3 driver’s seat area is tiny. It’s like sitting in a race car. The model y has plenty more room.

Great quick comparison. I have the model 3 for Uber and my biggest complaint is how difficult it is for mobility challenged persons to get out of the back seat. That being said, other people are impressed with the large space in the back of the 3. They don't expect so much leg room and head room. But, obviously, coming from the Y, it would be much less.

Bro so if u want a sedan get a model 3 if u want a bigger for kids and a hatchback get a model y.

Great comparison. My head says Model Y, it's definitely more practical. But my heart says Model 3, I think it just looks more sleek and fun to drive.

I am so glad I found this video! I've been between the M3 and the MY for a while. Last night my wife and I went and test drove the refreshed Model 3 and it was FANTASTIC! We already have a 4 door sedan and with the potential of a family on the horizon, I just have to wait for the refreshed MY, which I hope is early 25!

Video is helpful. I wish they’d call the MY a hatchback instead of an SUV, feels more appropriate. I have a 17 and 12 year old and we never noticed an issue with headspace but I’m sure going from more to less is far more noticeable
