False Albacore Crash Blackfish Season Opener!

You know it's a great fishing trip when you have to decide between dropping a jig down for an instant blackfish or to cast at busting False Albacore! That was the situation as blackfish (Tautog) season opened at the same time albies were passing by. This was my first trip using the kayak's trolling motor spot lock feature for blackfish. It made for an awesome trip!

John Today I went Tog fishing utilizing all I have learned from your videos. Found my own piece of structure and managed to catch a dozen or so Tog including a personal best 4.5 pounder. You looked different in this video, more relaxed. A beautiful day that's for sure, hardly any wind, i guess you don't have a jog puck, a heading puck installed. I have one on my OT, but have never used it, i haven't used the kayak at all, too busy. Nice fish, I thought i saw ripples in the distance with birds. Good hookups and fights who could ask for more.

Not sure you see or respond to comments on older videos but I do have a question on the blackish reel I see it's a 2000 size reel but when I went to the line it shows 30lb. Not sure that's the actual braid strength your using, some how I figured it would be 29lb or less. Thanks

The blackfish rod has an evict 2000 with 15# braid.

Probably close to 4mph, since that's how fast is goes on still water. Realistically half that to have enough battery life.

Is anyone realistically fishing these jigs from shore in structure? Any decent fish 18+ inches just breaks off with the light line and leader. Way better results with sinker and single hook on heavy leader
