My son was gifted a Corvette when he was 11 and we have upgraded and repaired it over the last couple years. In this video we are going to fix a couple issues it has had since we first got it running after being parked for years. We are going to replace the entire gauge cluster and convert it from an old school digital dash to a better looking analog gauge setup. We also fix an ongoing fuel delivery issue, and then take it on a road trip to Harbor Freight Tools since it's Ralphie's favorite place.
check out summitracing.com for all your performance parts needs.
This is the part number for the dash we used. IZL-AP2003

What a generous guy who donated this Vette! I am also impressed that dad (Josh) takes an interest in Son's car. My dad had no interest in anything I had, he owned no tools and was generally disinterested in me. I think that's why I like to see your kids participate happily. You are doing a good job as the Dad. Wah needs to watch an expert pinstriper--its an art form that doesn't come easily, but its a great goal to learn it.

Same here with my parents. They didnt support me in anything i did or had. Im an artist. I sew, paint, cross stitch, make furniture. Ive made 2 queen size beds, myself. Im called on by my friends for crafts. But my parents didnt support me in my hobbies. Im constantly jealous when i see parents treat their kids better than my parents did with me. I have always wished my parents treated me better than they did.

I know what you mean. My dad was born in that short window of time, that he turned 16 and got his license in the mid 60's, when the coolest cars in history were being built, and could be bought cheap. He owned several of them. Then by the time i was born in 1980, he'd been there and done all that i guess, and had just decided he wanted to become one of those darn adults 😂, and was over his cool muscle car obsession. He went from buying big block, 4 speed Chevelles and small block, 4 speed Camaro's, to buying Toyota pickup trucks. Yuck! 🤢 lol

Sorry to hear you had to go through that, but I'm glad you're enjoying and appreciating his content. Some stay bitter, but you broke the chain. I love people like you. Those who have been through tough times. Yet learn from that and do better. No envy.. just adding a positive note. You're good people. Thank you for this comment and the ones who had similar experiences. Bless you 🙏

Wa doing the pin stripe reminds me of when i painted my 85 250 rebel with scallops with the middle lime gold metallic ford paint in the middle with silver base coat then laid down a copper pin stripe in between. Then Burried it all in clear. Unfortunately i bumped the tank with my ratchet and it cracked the clear 😬

I say it's time to do a Marge project!!! The place where you picked that 3-wheel mail truck had some 40s or 50s pickups that Marge liked, and I was hoping you were going to get one. It doesn't matter what it is-a square body or an older truck-but we need to see a Tosh pick and rebuild. She has good taste in vehicles, the channel could use an old school pickup and it would be good for parts runs She deserves it!!!!

Lol... Talking about sketchy stuff when loading things into the hatchback. That reminded me of when I was a teenager and a friend and I took off the glass hach of a 1984 Camaro, and loaded a 250X Honda fourwheeler into/on the back of the Camaro, and drove about 20 miles (and back) with it in/on there, on the Interstate at about 70 MPH. We put the front wheels up on the roof, and the back wheels sat perfectly wedged down into the lower part of the hatch that dropped down right behind the taillights. Just seeing the expressions on people's faces of shock, confusion, disbelief, some being impressed giving thumbs up, and the look of some of them thinking we were out of our minds for even attempting something like that with a Camaro, was hilarious. It did work though. And it didn't cause any damage at all to the car.

It amazes me how talented your kids are. It really is a blessing to see the kids of today learning and contributing so much. Wawa keep a steady hand and light touch and you will have cleaner lines but for your first attempt it looks great if you can Master it you will always have a really good way to make money on the side. I believe that piece of plastic on the vet is a part of the ducting to keep that motor channeling air directed in the right ways for cooling. The vet is looking really good especially with that new dash. Keep up the good work you guys!! Love the channel and the content. Have a blessed week and we'll see you next weekend in the next video.

I had a cool 1st car myself . . . to me anyway. It was a 1966 Dodge Coronet 500 /w a 383 4bbl. Police Package. Scary fast car but I had to really work on it cuz the lady who bought it new didn't service it very much. I had an old bicycle at Ralphies age ... I think I would've slept in that corvette if it were mine at his age ... My dad bought my first car ...it was a 74 Camaro . I sold it 6 months later & bought a 73' Chevelle .. I loved that car !

Wow - the Vette is running so nicely, even if the idle oil pressure seems low to me, always used to see 25-40 at idle as I recall.....I stand corrected lol - a friend already saw this comment and called me out - cold startup press. 25-40, but once hot idling more like 15-20. LOVE the new analog gauge panel - totally hot!

Josh, the foam "vibration block" you put in is blocking the metal vent louvers on the back of the instrument cluster assembly. Make sure you don't end up burning up the cluster by doing that. (Heat has to go somwhere)😳

Here's a neat project idea. Take the old Corvetee dash pieces and fab a frame to hold them together as they were in the dash. Add some LEDs to the clear acrylics so all the dash (speedo, rpm, warning lights) lights up and create a desk/table/wall lamp. Maybe someone could create a cover plate with "Corvette" milled out in black plastic that could be backlit so the Corvette lights up too.

So i always liked the digital dash on the late 80s, early 90s Chevy's. Had a S10 with all the Digital dash stuff, everything except the odometer worked perfectly. It worked fine until you disconnect the battery. (Every time you disconnect the battery it would restart at 24000 miles. Probably had 300,000.....) Sold that truck for 600$ because it was dangerous rusty, been trying to locate another digital dash, and if you have one that works, they go for ridiculous money(500$ last time I checked)

The early digital dash cars had huge issues, here in UK the Vauxhall Astra Sri had a digital dash problem. And some other uk cars were the same. I think it’s the connection to the screen with the rubber pads. Ralphie is in his element now the corvette is upgraded. He’s quickly becoming a competent mechanic and fabricator. Wawa did well pin striping on the rough crappy panels it’s easier on a smooth shiny surface. Thank you guys good to see squeezy feeling better. 👏🤞🙏👍

Hey sleeperdude, i was in waffle house earlier eating dinner here in VA, i was sitting there and someone that looked just like marge walked in. I didn't want to say nothing or bother anyone. The car pulled away and had Tennessee plates. Not sure of that was yall or not, i doubt it, i was just curious. My dad and i watch your videos a lot. I have something in common with you, we both have a love for Ford Mavericks. I have a 73. Thank you guys and awsome videos.

Corvette's are always worth a little investment! It will be cool to the 'Vette painted and fixed up. The fastest Corvette I have ever driven was a Z06 with 6 speed. It will literally throw back into the seat . I got it to 150 m.ph. and still had plenty of pedal left.

On Saturdays, I find myself not satisfied with watching the other channels and change often to different shows because I'm really waiting for Sleeperdude to come up in the feed. Once I get my "fix", I'm fine the rest of the day. 😁😁BTW the factory oil pressure sender that was on the car is actually a pressure switch. What you installed in its place is an actual sending unit that will provide varying pressure readings. Love what you're doing with the car.

The new gauge cluster is definitely an improvement over the digital gauges. 👍👍 The LCD would wear out and that's probably why they weren't registering. Traditional gauges are much better anyway, in my opinion. Nice work, guys!! 😎🔧🔧 Those Corvettes still look good!! Thanks for sharing!
