It's baffling and criminal Jude Cole was not bigger. This entire album was outstanding and this song is one of those that makes you pause, think about the past - good and bad - and wonder if you could, would you go back and change anything? To me, that's what makes this song truly art, so thanks, Jude, all these years later.

Jude Cole is one of the most underrated artists from that time. Wonder how things might have been different for him (& Van Halen w/Sammy Hagar) if Ed Leffler had not died. Love Jude Cole’s whole catalog! Should have been a superstar! But he went on w/Keifer S to do great things with Ironworks. BTW - have you ever checked out Keifer’s music from a couple years ago. It’s incredible! He covered one of my favorite Jude Cole songs “Open Road” and many of the songs he wrote are awesome. Really great stuff. Pax&Blessings to music lovers everywhere.

This is great to see this video! I was one of two cinematographers to shoot this. I did all the "B" roll slice of life footage that wraps thru the video. Pliny Porter was the second unit director. I had no idea that Keifer Sutherland was directing until i was halfway thru the nite of shooting. Me and Pliny went with a 16mm camera and shot out of a van grabbing whatever was going on that nite around hollywood!. Was good times! Awesome tune! I'm proud to have been part of this one!

One of my questions I ask myself from time to time... Why do we not have guys, like Jude, on the airwaves anymore? He was an exceptional artist and so underrated. I just think our music of the 21st century would be so much better if Jude was a part of it. One of a kind and I sure miss his voice and musical talent at this time.

Good point, could be timing -- I just recently found out about Jude, but what I've heard is outstanding, but as many have already stated generally good music doesn't seem to get much air play these days. Even a group like Eagles, which is easily considered one of the best contemporary rock bands ever, would they even get radio play these days on a new release? Sure they still sell out stadiums and get plenty of internet play, but that's all base on what they pretty much accomplished in the past, when they did get air play.

Underrated classic. There was a lot of pre grunge, post mid 80s rock pop that sprung up around this time (sweet spot is like 87-92). A lot of them had this areggiated guitar which carried the melody, along with that loud whip snare with some reverb. The quintessential of that being John waites Missing You. I think this is the best version of that. Cole also has a song called “Walls that Bend” which 80s pop revivalists would drool over, deserves a lot more attention…there are a couple other artists who pulled off this type of song but it’s incredibly difficult. Benjamin Orr’s solo record is another great example…

An unsung hero if there ever was one. Precociously talented. Everything, the complete package, with one crucial, essential element: sincerity. A View from 103rd Street is a masterpiece. Should’ve easily been album of the year. Song by song, note by note, riff by riff, there’s not a wasted moment. Don’t know or disagree? Put it on, in, whatever, drop the needle or just push play. Prove me wrong. It’s even sequenced perfectly. Always gets me through the night.

So, it's been 33 years now (released in 1990, it's now 2023), and 'A View From 3rd St' is still number 6 on my list of ALL-TIME most favorite albums. And I have one qualifier which has kept a LOT of albums OFF of my all-time most favorite albums... there can't be even one "dud" track. I should be able to listen to the entire album without needing to skip even a single track. And Jude fulfilled that requirement with "3rd St." This album is a masterpiece of writing, playing, and singing. And it sounds as fresh as it did in 1990. Jude is truly a gifted songwriter/musician. Thanks for this timeless album, Jude!

Every time I listen to this song, it's bittersweet. The lyrics are so powerful. My head becomes flooded with so many fond memories... yet reality fills my heart with sadness. I've lived long enough to know what is real and what isn't. Even though I try to let go, I know deep down that my heart never will... because the love that I feel stays strong, just like the song says. To anyone out there who knows this sadness... the kind that is so overwhelming that it brings you to your knees... you are not alone. Stay strong. Even the darkest of nights still has a new dawn... To the woman I think of when I play this song... I will love you til the end of time. ♡

This was one of those songs reminiscent of Richard Marx's "Right Here Waiting", that you're hearing faintly from someone's car radio as you were just waking up from a nap on a hot, late afternoon's summer's day in the late 80s, early 90s. I was going through a love-hate relationship with a girl when this song became popular during the Gulf War. Back then we didn't know if we were truly in love, as there was jealousy and suspected other people in the relationship. We break up, we get back together then broke up again for good when she ended her stint in the Air Force and went back home to MI. Never had a chance to say goodbye and never saw her again. Time For Letting Go indeed...i keep telling myself over and over...

I discovered Jude by accident and have loved all of his music for years ever since! His lyrics are from the heart and never fail to bring a tear to my eye as I think of how closely they relate to my own experiences in life and love. Sure there are performers with more awards or money or whatever... But in my opinion Jude Cole is the best performer of our time.

My sister was sent this album by a pen pal way back in 1990 or 1991. We had heard "Baby, It's Tonight" and gave the rest of the album a listen. What a gem! I used to listen to it on my Walkman in between classes at San Jose State University. To this day it is one of my favorite albums of all time. I never tire of listening to it & I have cried many times too. It's a masterpiece.

Can't figure out why Jude Cole didn't become more popular!!! Great voice and songwriter. Baffling!! Anyway, great song!!
