Stallone's turn as John Spartan in _Demolition Man_ was in many ways a more valid interpretation of Dredd than his actual portrayal of Dredd. They just inverted the nature of the dystopia Spartan inhabited. And IMO the Fifth Element had a better mega-city than either Dredd movie.

That intro is spot on for this. I had no clue who Judge Dredd was either, until I saw this. And even though I was a kid, I was really excited to see this movie for some reason. I don't remember the ads for it, but whatever they were they definitely worked on me. _Edit:_ Always amused me, the idea of making suicide a crime. What're you gonna do if someone breaks that law? Arrest their corpse?
@chaossmith38644 жыл бұрын
You know, I used to think that and realized how horrific it actually is. Fail and get caught? Welp you just attempted to commit a felony. Get revived? Welp you just committed a felony. So basically they could technically arrest you while you're already not exactly the most thrilled about living.

I'd recommend giving Dredd a watch but judging from the comment section half the internet just did that for me... A great review and all the more so for being a different flavour to the Nostalgia Critic one (hey, you brought him up). I'd find it odd that anyone would have an issue with you reviewing it too, especially since A: You beat him to Demolition Man and Tim Burton's Planet Of The Apes and B: Mr Walker himself has said that he sees no reason why two people can't review the same film, so long as they're not copying each other. I had read a several of the comics (2000AD) when I was a kid, so was already a big fan of Judge Dredd, and thought the film was a fun, action packed story. The film got panned bigtime on release, but theres plenty of films the critics have praised that on watching have been boring crap. Even though he just got out of prison shortly before the battle and ( apparently) has no gang affiliations on record.

The block wars in the comics are because blocks are essentially miniature civilizations who damn near everyone agrees to like the same things to keep peace and don't like outsiders (other blocks) because mega city 1 is super cramped and everyone is on edge all the time so block wars can and have canonically started over dropped ice cream or other petty shit, also the voice activated select on the lawgiver is kind of dumb considering gunfights are insanely loud especially when high explosives are involved so im surprised the lawgiver can hear judge dredd at all while he's selecting on the fly whether comics or movies. i understand that its dystopian future tech and all judge helmets have an in-built headset for talking so i guess thats how the lawgivers AI can hear him
