Summer.. She is a judge and has to remain professional.. She can't be buddy buddy with someone just because she knew them before.. That wouldn't convey equality and fairness to all those who didn't know her when they were younger so she has to convey a degree of impartiality toward his friendship considering what position she has in the court. Don't be so quick to JUDGE xD lol sorry I couldn't resist.

Final point. She didn’t even sentence him. She had to defer the case because she cared about him. She still came to visit him on release anyway. She’s just a good person. I respect her immensely.
@gregwilliams1879
@gregwilliams1879 3 жыл бұрын
Well I'm sure she deferred the case because of legal reasons and conflict of interest. You can't really sentence someone that you know personally on that level cause bias comes into play. It has nothing to do about her caring for him. If she didn't know him from Adam and cared about his well being she could of carried out the sentence.

She probably hugs everybody like that..lol Another thing...just because she knew this man in grade school doesn't mean he is the same person he was back then. He could have stalkerish tendencies or may get a little too close. So, she still needs to maintain a certain amount of boundaries considering the position she is in. I think she handled herself well. I was initially feeling like she gave him a 'you're below me' hug, but after analyzing the video, I think it was just an awkward hug. It's like when you motion to shake someone's hand and they grab your hand too low and shake your fingers but you just go with it any way.

I watched their interaction on Court Cam TV, and it just made me cry. Her sweet smile, and his "Oh my goodness" when he recognized her. He looked so embarrassed, and ashamed. That Judge Mindy was there when her old friend Arthur was released was the kindest thing. I hope he gets better. God bless them both.

For all you talking about the hug she gave him, she recognized him from middle school. You heard what she said" He was the nicest kid (in middle school). She don't see him as a criminal She sees him as a childhood friend who made a mistake. Luckily the judge was cool as hell to give him his life back. Bless her🤗🤗🤗

Sometimes we change in so many ways when we grow up that we barely recognize ourselves anymore. When we see someone from the past who recognizes a part of our character that we thought we forgot, it can be overwhelming as someone is finally seeing us in a way that we haven't been seen in years. It can give you hope that underneath, those parts of ourselves and our past identity is still there. And that hopefully we can find our way back.

This actually makes my eyes tear up every single time I’ve ever seen this clip. Not to get even sappier still, but you can see what a sweetness there is inside this man as it is, and especially that it just comes right to the surface because of a simple reminder of the earlier times of childhood, a time when less things had gone awry, a time when despite any childhood challenges, there was maybe still more of a feeling of hope for the future - at least more hope than is felt as time goes on and bad things happen, and misfortune leads to trouble, and conditions deteriorate more and more. A simple interaction like this seems to maybe bring him right back to that younger mindset and contrasts it with the things of the present in a way that produces a paradigm shift. Honestly I love how the judge handled it here but also, watching this person smile and go “Oh my god,” suddenly looking like he’s 12 years old again, I’m just like, “Man, I love this guy!” It seems like this whole situation really fostered some good stuff all around.

Folks commenting like they expected her to French kiss the brother .. first she owes him nothing, a handshake would have sufficed .. secondly the comments show that most don't understand the etiquette between subordinate and authority relationships .. folks need to understand that there is a proper place and time to act like friends and a proper place and time to treat a friend in an Authority position with the respect that is due the position.
