I will never forget the look on the face of my arrogant aunt when I did the maths with her on how much she would have to sell and it finally dawned on her that the families warnings had been genuine concern and NOT jealousy. She went from smug faced to white as a freaking ghost in a heartbeat. She had wasted THOUSANDS buying countless amounts of products to use her living room like a showcase and had only sold two cheap items under $100 at the one party she'd had with everybody she knew. Sorry rude aunt, but your broke family can't afford $70 laundry powder. She learned her lesson from this and never spoke of it again. She'll join another MLM at some point to brag about how she's better than everyone else again, of that I have no doubt.

Judge Judy isn't real life court however since she's daytime and many MLMers work from home it's possible that this aired with a ton of MLM people watching which is rather amusing and helps get the message out and potentially saves some victims who might be unemployed at this time and willing to join an MLM
@videofan10103 жыл бұрын
So the cases they bring in to Judge Judy start off as genuine. They contact the people and tell them they'd like to try the case on TV. The case is then dropped to be on TV. Everyone will be compensated in exchange for participating on the show. The winner of the case receives some of the loser's compensation.
@UlexiteTVStoneLexite3 жыл бұрын
The cases are real they just choose to go on TV instead of taking the case to the actual small claims courts. I took someone to small claims and I was given a letter as an invitation to go on to judge Joe Brown. Unfortunately I did not anticipate my opponent actually showing up to the trial so I could not possibly go on to the show and I told them that and sure enough my opponent did not show up at court. But yes these are real court cases they just get intercepted by the shoes and the people go on to their instead

I can’t believe I haven’t seen this one before, Judge Judy has no patience for BS and loathes con artists, it’s amazing. Don’t some MLMs have fine print saying people can’t pay for start up kits or fees for their down lines bc that legally makes them very pyramid schemey since that means people can’t literally buy their rank-ups? Probably rarely enforced but if someone was aware of the fine print it would win their Judge Judy case

I feel like the whole "every business has someone who breaks the rules" excuse doesn't/shouldn't work with MLMs anymore, because so many different people across so many different MLM companies consistently get caught doing the exact same things. False income and health claims have become the rule rather than the exception, and that's the point at which the companies themselves are to blame.

The fact that the reps are the actual customers is what really threw me for a loop with mlms. It all revolves around how much money each person spends towards inventory, so even if you have little to no actual customer sales, it doesn’t really reflect all that poorly on you or your up line. As long as you keep feeding money into the company, they really couldn’t care less whether or not you even make your investment back, let alone any real profit.

In the early 1990's I had an ex who had someone try to recruit him/us to Amway. Not sure if they are still doing this, but they were attempting to get him sucked into this idea that you should buy everything from them ( they were into everything from supplements, and cleaning solutions, to furniture sales at the time) because, in their words, you were buying from yourself, and essentially paying yourself. He nearly fell for the scheme, until I showed him how you are losing money and that if you pay 4 times what an item is worth, you are losing money, because you get a tiny portion compared to what your upline gets. I told him you pay yourself better by getting furniture from a consignment shop and saving the money. I'd love for you to explore two areas with MLM's I haven't seen much about, but are very crucial to their destructiveness. 1, they often prey on couples ( we were invited to a convention that pushed that couples are the best way to do this "business"), and 2, the premise that they try to "sell" that you are paying yourself by buying the products. It's insane but people fall for it, obviously, or these businesses wouldn't exist. Thanks!

Mary Kay is one of the biggest MLM schemes out there. They say they are empowering and helping women, but the CEO is a man (as are more than half of their executive board), and they push hard to bring in new recruits. They train their folks specifically on how to persuade possible recruits to run up their credit cards, or better yet, take a mary kay sponsored credit card. I lost $3k. They teach their members how to respond to women who tell them they don't have enough money to invest, and make them feel bad for not investing in themselves.They pressure members to buy product ahead of time (instead of ordering after parties) because they would quickly make it back (except for the product the member uses for samples) Also, they get a car too... BUT the member has to maintain their sales quota, their recruitment quota, and their team's sales quota. MK can take that car away at any time. They don't care about women, they just want their money.

What is wrong with my brain? I absolutely HATE MLMs, I can smell a hunbot a mile away, I despise preditory behavior... But everytime I watch one of these kinds of videos I become slightly intrigued about how well I would do in an MLM.

You'd have to start it yourself or be the second level, otherwise you wouldn't do well

@@cheeto.burrito im absolutely sure id be awful at it, and waste hundreds of dollars. I dont post much on social media, Im not comfortable speaking with strangers and annoying friends or family, and I could never ask someone to spend money on something they couldn't afford or that I myself absolutely loved. I had to stop watching anti MLM videos because for some reason they get me pumped to sell nonsense. my brain is broken

Judge Judy is up there with Betty White and Dolly Parton, in terms of older American women who are worshipped by zillions of fans and are not to be criticized 😁

Yep, I'm from TN and if anyone dare touch Dolly, my whole state will be out for blood.

Sorry for being off topic but I'm watching this video in low quality but all I can think about is how your hair and make-up is so on point👌

Sadly some people never learn their lesson. My ex-wife bought into 4 different MLMs at last count that I know of and went bust on all 4 (Surprise!) As a buyer some of them had pretty good products. That being said as a "partner" "recruit" "seller"..... Bend over.

Anyone aware of the “direct marketing” schemes? Very similar to this, except people invest their time more or less, rather than money up front. Same multi level pyramid, same promise of “owning your own company,” etc. Less discussed but equally insidious.
@thecomfortinthesound2 жыл бұрын
@@evanhines9723 had to google that, but yes it fits the “direct marketing” paradigm very well. It’s basically cold in person sales where people get paid dirt commission, but put up with because they’ve been duped into thinking it’s a fast track to success. Really the only way to “succeed” turns out to be duping other people.

I was doing keyword research for my next AntiMLM video (very small channel atm), and your video for this popped up…I can’t believe I wasn’t subscribed to you already!

Judge Judy 👩🏼⚖️ Excellent 😆 as usual. I wonder if Judge Rinder has ever covered any MLMs... those well placed, mid-afternoon shows, can help worn those at home off these schemes 👍🏼 As well as This Morning covering them mid Feb. You’ve been tinkering with your colourpop x animal crossing makeup Emma? Looking great, the eye-makeup shape is 😻 You scrapped the blush in favour of freckles? I liked the blush last time, I know you think you’re pink 😊 but anyone else might think you live in the England, in the winter, during lockdown...🤔😘

I'm not as interested in the vitamin industry as you seem to be, but I really love the way you say vitamin. Your accent is the reason I finished you first video and the content kept me watching more.
