This judge is the absolute best! Yes, she starts people off with a lot of conditions, but that's because she wants these offenders to actually NOT end up in jail...she really wants to help them to help themselves. She obviously cares, which is something that is unique with most people who have had careers dealing with this sector of the public for any amount of time. Her " real world with a heart" approach should be the approach that is an example for all!

Every time I hear someone answer the question, "Do you understand the consequences?" with a "yes", I think to myself, "No, don't." And it's evident that you don't understand because you're back in front of a judge, whether for the same offense or something different, you're back! It likely won't hit home until you get to live with the consequences for the next 20 years.

This Judge is similar to Judge Bryant, they both care so much for their community, at times more so than the defendant, she leads with tough love and will lay down the hammer if necessary but she truly desires for them to change

This judge is stellar in every way; impeccable temperament and a perfect combination of intelligence, compassion, and firmness. I was watching Judge Manning recently and, although it was somewhat out of character, she went ballistic during a hearing and I was embarrassed for her. Admittedly, one of the litigants was absolutely off the chain, but the judge became just as bad and totally sunk to her level. The court and the litigant went back and forth, often screaming, for over an hour; totally exhausting and completely unprofessional. You never see this with Judge Boyd. I'm sure she gets just as aggravated but always she maintains her dignified demeanor. I have seen other judges, not just Manning, totally lose their cool on the bench in these public videos, and many of the instances are serious enough that they could be sanctionable. I do think the proliferation of the Zoom hearings has contributed to the madness.

Yes I agree. Judge Manning is very clever, but alas she lacks emotional control, and when this happens she loses focus. She allows her volcanic emotionality to cloud her thinking.... she behaves more like an actor on stage than a thinking academic, which is the preferred stance in the role of a learned judge.

WOW! I mean I’ve been on probation for a solid amount of years in my life & I’ve always drank alcohol while on it. If anything I’m not on probation NOW & I currently do not drink alcohol. Maybe it’s different in every state. But the booze was never why I was on probation, I never broke the law while consuming or having booze in my system. Everything I did was very deliberate & I knew what I was doing & booze wasn’t a contributing factor (maybe that’s worse. Idk 🤷🏼‍♀️).
