I needed to hear that, thank you. She told me almost on a daily basis whenever I saw her how grateful she was that I was in her life and her kids lives as an inspirational role model. I put my drug addiction behind me 16 years ago this year, but she couldn't stop buying weed 1 or 2 days a week to start paying me back. Yes, I let myself get caught up for a month smoking again after quitting 4 years prior. This was due to extreme stress from a bad breakup with my fiancé. I chose that temporary vice purposely, because I could have gone to drugs, but that's not easy to quit. We spent all of 2 hours in the ER and they gave me prednisone. Real reason being is because I didn't have my asthma suppressant (corticosteroid) for the trip. It was refilled literally the day after we left and we couldn't wait because of the dates of the tickets. I've never tried to go without it before or in this case try and stretch out a 3 day supply over 6 days. I found out not taking as directed means you'll have a sudden acute asthma attack and it will be 2 to 3 times worse than normal before having started suppressant therapy. However in the case of her boyfriend he smokes like a chimney in winter. She told me one time when me and my ex fiancé thought we were loaning her 50 to get groceries for her and the kids that she not only got weed wax for themselves. But, it was better for him to have his cigarettes then for him to be without them, and I didn't even want to know what he was like at those times ... she never elaborated. Also this wasn't a family vacation she invited me on. 1, she considered me like family, 2, my ex fiancé was going to be included in that trip but we ended before it happened, 3, she didn't have any credit cards and neither did the boyfriend. So without me they couldn't book a hotel at all because she had no other money, just theme park tickets. In other words there would have been no "family" vacation without me. I had to be the one showing the kids an entertaining time at all these theme parks because they weren't sober enough to do it themselves. If the kids had a good time at all, and I'm not sure they did because of how their mom was the whole time, it was because of me. Taking them to the rides and not just standing around in souvenir shops, taking them to events inside, keeping them engaged to the activities when all their mom wanted to do was get in line for food every hour. They're not my kids but I had to be their parents on that trip because their guardians checked out mentally the whole time without even consulting me if that would be okay. And no it was not, because I wasn't okay, I just broke up with someone I love dearly and was going to marry that year in December 2021. So I had to be a responsible adult to 2 children that aren't mine while also dealing with a train wreck of emotions. And I think that may have made it worse. Because there I was being a parent to children that aren't mine, that belong to a "family" that obviously don't care enough if at all while my hope at starting my own family had crumbled away only 2 weeks prior. I cried a lot and sometimes even now it still makes me sad. But she just didn't understand my feelings and she honestly wasn't there for me, she wasn't even there for her kids, she literally told me she was just there for the food. Again, thank you for this validation. I only became a bad role model because she owed me money and refused to pay even 50 a week for months on end, constantly backing out of repayment arrangements that she herself on her own was making.

The plaintiff ignored a couple of huge red flags: Being asked to cover the hotel room was already enough for concern, but he was also promised to be reimbursed for all subsequent expenses made on his credit card. This tells me that -- with the exception of the theme-park tickets, which the couple had pre-paid -- ALL of the other expenses were on HIM to cover. Huge red flag. He should've never agreed to go. And so what if he went through a break-up; that's what Hagen-Daz is for. 🙂
