Really appreciate these videos brother, your channel is just what I've been looking for. I'm 33, just started judo, and I also dream of competing at the national level. At first I was afraid that I'm too old, but your content has been super helpful and motivating. I'll continue to follow you along your journey. Thanks for sharing your unique perspective and keep up the great work!

What’s up OG fitness. I picked up Judo pretty late, I started at 30. I tore my meniscus almost a year in and realized a lot of it had to do with weakness in my leg muscles more then anything. I was able to rehab the knee and focused my attention on leg strength and mobility exercise. We’re in a lockdown now but prior to it, I felt much stronger and more comfortable with some of the explosive movements. Point being, your video is spot on. Physical care, strength training, and rest really is the key to longevity.

I Started Judo at 45 and I have been doing Judo for 6 yrs. You make very good points about how to continue Judo after the age 40.

I started Judo a year ago found it good fun at age 37 and did met a guy 83 years old. He told me he was 65 when stopped competition. He challenged people 20 years younger.

Thanks for the video, do you mean flexibility or just functionality when you say 'mobility'?

From what I've seen, the 40s are the most dangerous time to start a grappling art. Why? Because you are young enough to go really hard, but old enough to get really hurt. So follow Hong's advice and pay attention to what your body is telling you. Oh yeah, become an immortalist. That really takes the pressure off, lol

I'm 42 and it's a unique age to be. I think of myself as both a young -old man and/or an old - young man.

O.G. FITNESS Brother you look great for your age. I thought you were twenty. Looks like you train like Bruce Lee. I started boxing and wanted to do some grappling. Im going to start BJJ. I’m 37 and I wanted to do Judo. But I remember what you said about judo being tough for older people. My daughter is 5 now. I wanted to know if it’s a good idea to start her in BJJ or Judo. Which Martial art can she learn that can stick with her now until she gets older. Thanks for your work.

Is BJJ easier on the body than Judo? Is it possible to train both as a beginner? Especially, for someone over 40 such as myself. What are your thoughts.
