I felt eger to find love desperately - so I was manipulated and ‘used’ so many times. My heart was just broken. Your last story reminded me of a similar situation I had about 20 years ago. (I'm super old now, Lindas). Matched with a guy online, I wasn't feeling any sparks but he was an "artist" like me, so, I thought, we'll meet for lunch, and worst, maybe I'll make a new artist friend. I go to the place he suggested. There is one person, a rather large, older man (who does not look like the guy in the photo) eating. I do say hi to hi as I ask the server for a table. I say hi just in case he's the guy but he's already eating so I brush it off. There is no one else there at all. SO, I go and sit down and wait for "Steven". 10 minutes pass. I"m definitely feeling uneasy like I'm being watched. The guy at the bar complains about his food (which he has consumed btw) and the server apologizes with an "I'm sorry, Steven." Ah, so he's a regular there, on a first name basis. My feeling is that this WAS the Steven I was supposed to meet but his picture was at least 10 years old. If it wasn't him the one I was supposed to meet was a no-show. So, I left. I'm pretty sure I was set up for that guy to watch me wait. So creepy. So manipulative. Strangely similar vibes to your story.
