Best info I've ever had! Thankyou, and very well explained. Never been in that position at hip contact before! Was always leaning back, tryna copy what I see on youtube! Thankyou for the insight and knowledge!

Thanks for the great info Max. At the point of contact should there be an attempt to pin the bar against the hips to minimize the horizontal display of the bar, or should the lat tension used to keep the bar in close proximity to the body leading to the point of contact be sufficient? Thank you again.

Any suggestions on hurting the hip/groin area? Even the slightest bang on my hip bone literally hurts.

You're making contact in the wrong place. As to why, there could be many reasons, might be wrong-size grip or you're pulling with arms to soon (elbows), or who knows what, impossible to tell without a video.

The bar shouldn't contact at the bone but slightly below the hip crease when you hinge or squat (there is ofc some variation).

The "making contact with the hip" thing is something you dont see in chinese lifters. They basically drag the bar from the quads to the hip and then explode up. Why these differences? Different lifting schools? I've been coached not to make contact with the hip (not to make a "huge contact", just brusing the hips) but instead keeping the back angle similar thoughout the entire pull and bring the bar closer to the center of gravity by keeping my lats tight and arms relaxed. Then, when the bar is about to reach the power position, extend myself up. To me this looks different to making contact with the hip.It is less efficient? Awesome series JTS.
