Great reminder that it's not the best or worst case scenario that is most likely, but something in between.

Personally, i think the key to overthinking less and less is to engage in meaningful conversations and having a consistent demeanor within yourself and others; thus, there is a time and place for certain things, and being able to identify with yourself in the most basic ways is essential to mental clarity and prioritizing what is most important in the moment and in the time to come.

I have been struggling with obsessive overthinking since my separation in December. Thank you for this video and the Mindfulness Resource you created. ❤

1) Point out what is causing overthinking. For me, it's perfectionism over what I create. 2) Use anchor thoughts. Some I use are: - I am not perfect, and I don't need to be. - good enough is good enough. - my "perfection" will not matter over the long run. - people connect with authenticity, not perfection. 3) Responsible/realistic thinking on the spectrum. I tend to think about the worst case scenario or expecting things to be excellent. However, managing my expectations and being good to myself reminds me that no matter what outcome I get, I will be okay.

When going through a mental struggle with thoughts and feelings, pausing to tell yourself 'I am ok.' That's a great anchor thought! I would actually add to that 'I am ok...and I still love you.' To remind myself that I can still love myself in the midst of these struggles and in spite of them.

Excellent advice. Wrote it all down and will practice it. I am a huge overthinker towards the negative. I get anxious of the what if’s. I am learning to let go and rely on God’s plan.

My anchor thought is to remember that whatever I’m going through people have gone through before and have made it out on the other side both in positive and negative ways so there’s no determining what is going to happen before it happens

Dear Julia - Can you do one on why I feel like I am going to get bum-rushed, overtaken and ransacked every time something goes good for me, like getting a bonus at work, please?
@rickhanson32937 ай бұрын
Can I just make up the best case scenario as long as I don't fall for my own untruth or should I just hope that the truth is not as bad as the hideous truths of others? ;) On a serious note, though, if the norm has been more on the negative despite outlook etc. then reaching a balance is definitely not going to be easy because of the toll that years of negative results can take. That is to say that many times when I manage to not think about some negative result that either has occurred or might there is usually somebody during the day or week (never seems to last beyond that) that brings up that very thing whether about you or about them having the same experience--like how AA meetings that remind people that they are still an alcoholic even if they didn't drink much before and haven't had anything in 20 years. ;) Anchor points are always too close to identical or highly similar arenas of patterned thoughts and behaviors. Everything you said makes sense but the implementation (by me--not speaking for others) is going to be tough for me to put it mildly. ;)
