I miss my snake plant. I got it as a gift when I was promoted and I kept it for about 7 years. It never gave up on me even when I would neglect him for a month or more. Barely any sunlight. He grew and grew and I loved him. Then it froze in Texas and we lost power and the cold killed him. So sad. I had that plant as long as I’ve had some pets.

Some plants suffer considerable shock when repotting, but it doesn't mean they're dead. I cut back the struggling stems to allow it to save energy, give it good water (rain water usually) and a little food, good light, and they bounce back once they're over the shock of repotting.
@symptomoftheuniverse41492 жыл бұрын

the best way to water plants imo, I take all 60 of my philodendrons in the shower once a month, great for cleaning the dust off as well as give em a good water. The humidity helps get those stubborn new leaves unstuck too. Its a very therapeutic 2 hours of my day lmao

Snake plants also known as Mother-in-Law's Tongue are wonderful! I have one that was repotted from a snake plant that was my great grandparents. This plant survived 2 years without light or water when a relatvie died, and their home had not been sorted/gone through. I also had one full leaf die (I think I drowned it?). The leaf's insides turned liquid. It was like holding a translucent plastic bag of water- most bizarre plant experience lol

Julien I don't know if you'll see this but I have a 20 year old umbrella plant! It's been with me through highschool and college graduation, losing my father and grandparents, two house moves, a few boyfriends before I found my husband, and numerous other life milestones. It was gifted to me as a joke when I worked for Lowes in highschool by a regular customer who bought all the dormant plants we had marked down. I didn't think it would make it but here we are! I've given away 5 cuttings off of it and they are all doing great. If you ever want another one just let me know and you can a piece of my old beast! I'd love for him to sprout as many babies as he can!

As someone who's brought an adansonii back from the dead, they're a pain in the ass. She hates being moved, likes to try and die off every winter, constantly had something wrong for about a year... She's now my second largest plant, she would be the largest, but she didn't come back as well from this past winter. Hoping a repot and more consistent care will bring her back to her former glory...

My monstera adansonii liked being water propagated, and did really well. When I transferred them to soil, I made sure they had been making roots in the water jar for at least two months or so. I live in 7b/8a, so our humidity is pretty high here in the air, even somewhat indoors. Maybe the adansonii needs more humidity and the wall was not providing enough of the right environment. ❤️

Try bottom watering your moist plant, basically you put the pot in a deep dish of water filled enough to reach approx where the root system is, leave it for 10-30 mins (google it) then take it out leavw it in sink or shower for an hour to finish dripping

Mosquito bits! If you have problems with fungus gnats, mix mosquito bits in the soil (or sprinkle on top next time you water) and it takes care of the eggs and larvae. Get yellow sticky traps for the adults.
@sierradickinson7602 жыл бұрын
@@quinnhindley9512 where did you get your mosquito bits? Amazon? I looked today at walmarts garden center and didnt find any. I got a different organic insecticide to try. @meeples75992 жыл бұрын
For fungus gnats, the only thing that worked for me when I used an entire bag of soil that was contaminated with them was sticky sheets sitting on top of the soil to trap them before they could breed. For spider mites, you can spray them off in the shower and then use neem oil on the leaves.
