Julius II Rescued From Entanglement

We came across this big seal bull, wrapped up in the same type of netting, and bringing the same resistant attitude as Julius, one of our epic rescues - • Seal "Julius" FINALLY ...
After spotting him, we had to move fast as he was close to the water already. The netting was very tight around his neck, and it made breathing a difficulty. He was fairly calm throughout, and we could quickly free him from his death trap.

WOW! It is amazing how the team jumps from a moving vehicle, runs over terrain with multiple sharp obstacles, avoiding hundreds of scattering seals, all the while keeping their eye on their target! If this were an Olympic event, they would surely bring home the GOLD!♥

So many people think plastic straws are the main problem, when it is really ghost fishing gear and other rubbish in the oceans. I've seen a few videos of turtles with straws in their nostrils versus well over a thousand of your seal rescue videos. The plastic pollution problem is clearly not limited to one type of item.😢

Plastic straws are now basically outlawed here in Washington State. Gotta do something to try to make the politicians look good... Actually, the seals and other wildlife, politicians couldn't care less about. But their ability to gain votes... 😫

Agreed. Disposable consumer plastics is a scourge on the planet in whole. Garbage, all garbage has become an environmental hazard. As the supposed superior intelligent species, we should be ashamed for not doing better by our planet and the inhabitants we share it with.

That’s not accidental. It’s misdirection. The big corporations don’t want to have to really address the problem of plastics, it would interfere with business as normal. So they make a big to-do about plastic straws, and tell people it’s their fault for using them, and people buy a stainless steel straw or use biodegradable ones, so they can feel good about doing their part and don’t look at the big picture.

It's both. Plastic items will disperse microplastics in the environment over time. Of course ghost yarn and nets are bad too. Best thing would be a ban for plastic for commercial use.

Amazing rescue, running through so many seals without any leg protection, especially when you consider Tony's bite on the leg a little while ago from another seal, jumping to its friend's aid as Tony netted it. Definitely a big old Chunk of cargo net that should never have found its way to Bec more ng a seal's kaftan! Another seal lives to see tomorrow 🙌🏻🦭🙏🏻

cutting all the line, just to make sure it will all come off, is the only way, even if the line didn't need to be cut, it's better that its cut, to make doubly sure the removal goes smoother. great rescue guys, OCN is the best👍👍

It's not funny how these seals get entangled in all these nets, lines, etc. But when that net comes into sight with seal needing help it is somewhat comical when they stop in their tracks put up a protest and just go ahhh heck you got me.
