Fantastic jump rope session as usual, thank you! I have a question for you: I have 2 really thick calves (my parents say it's genetics), even though I'm losing much weight in my arms and also belly, the calves do not seem to get thinner but only to grow thicker and thicker (my own perception) (also more defined, this is not too bad lol), do you think I should switch from jump rope to other sports as pilates to see a better result on my calves? (I'm obsessed with them) It's pretty weird as a question haha , I lost much weight by jumping the rope, but hope to hear your opinion, thank you in advance!

Hey jr dudes! ive just recently started doing jump rope and after my daily jump rope workout I realized that i tend to have pain on my feet, specifically the back of the feet. does that have something to do with jumping rope? cuz ever since i started doing jump rope that's when i felt the pain. after 15-20 min the pain just disappears. and also its not just jump rope that starts the pain, its whenever i use my feet for a long time.

Are regular jump ropes just as effective as using weighted jump ropes? ❤️😊
@MrJordanConnolly3 жыл бұрын
Depends. A 'regular' rope will be less taxing on your arms and upper back/ postural muscles, in turn allowing you to tax your aerobic systems longer. Additionally a lighter rope can generally be swung faster. Where as weighted ropes are harder on your arms and upper back, taxing and engaging them more, however with the trade off of not being able to exercise as long. However if the weight difference isnt that much, I wouldnt fret over one being that much more advantagious or disadvantageous over the other. If i were to be forced to pick a side and choose which is more 'effective', I would choose a regular rope or a lighter weighted rope, as it isnt as taxing, therefore you can recover from each session quicker and in turn exercise more often. ALSOOOO, benefits from a weighted rope that are more anaerobic and strength based can be more effectively trained with bodyweight exercises, jumps/ bounding and sprinting.
@MrJordanConnolly3 жыл бұрын
I should also clarify more that, personally, I would consider crossropes 1/4 and 1/2 pound ropes being more so on the 'regular' side. When im referring to weighted ropes, id consider 1lb+ to be 'proper' weighted ropes. Which isnt technically right, but just how I personally classify them :p

In terms of weight loss, as long as you're keeping the intensity high it doesn't matter what rope you're using. I lost 25 lbs (11 kg) using a cheap amazon rope. The caveat being I had to do two 30 minute workouts in order to get the most out of the rope. Now I have the get lean set (1/4 & 1/2 lb) set and the 1 lb rope and I'm pretty burnt out after one 30 minute workout using the weighted ropes. It's all about intensity!

@@ForTheWearySaint If you train legs on a regular basis, it will be decently developed. Everyone can't grow their quads to 28 inches but if you train hard enough, you will gain muscles. A man with big quads didn't get them easily, he worked his ass off. If they don't train them, it won't grow. Genetics is a thing but hard work too is a factor.
