@@Saitaina yes! One of mine is the same way, especially when I'm in the kitchen cooking. Ever since I saw a few years ago how Jun will let their cats sniff what they're working with, I began doing the same and it really brought the curiosity out of the cat (lol) but since we've moved to a new apartment, mine haven't been staying at a safe distance away like his do. It makes keeping the food sanitary and them from stepping on a hot stove hard. It's the only time I've been harsh with scolding them- keeping them off the cooking counter. The opposite counter where they sit and watch is fine, but cooking counter next to the stove is not and I am terrified of an accident happening so I have to give them tough love sadly. But luckily they're starting to learn which counter is fine to sit and watch from in this new place.

Helios = greek sun god (therefore can be used interchangeably with sun) Philos = greek for 'loving' Heliophilous = sun-loving. Generally, whenever you see philo-, -philic or -philia it's the love of or attraction to something. The opposite is -phobic, -phobia. E.g. Hydro-philic = high molecular reactivity with water-like molecules. Philo-sophy = love of wisdom/knowledge (from sophia = wisdom/skill/knowledge etc.) Hydro-phobic = low molecular reactivity with water-like molecules. Arachno-phobia = fear of spiders. Anaerobic and aerobic relate to the reactivity with oxygen. An aerobic process consumes/involves oxygen whereas an anaerobic process proceeds without oxygen. For example, classical fermentation is an anaerobic process, whereas energy-production from respiration is an aerobic one. Both Humans and plants can gain energy from both aerobic and anaerobic processes. I don't know many cases in which plants would prefer anaerobic respiration since unlike mammals, who have mitochondria and produce lactic acid during the process (also not pleasant) plants produce ethanol and carbon dioxide. The first being alcohol a.k.a. nerve poison (as in deadly in large concentrations).

Cacti and succulents are far too easy to kill if you don't know what you're doing and they grow super slow so it's hard to tell if you're doing things right. My longest lasting succulent, I keep in my sunniest window and give it a bottlecap full of water (15-20ml, I guess) once a month. It lived 6 months. All it's predecessors died within weeks Edit: it's been 6 months since I bought the succulent and it's still alive
@willob5154 жыл бұрын
Cacti can be really difficult to keep alive and looking well!! Most places you just won't be able to give it enough sunlight at all, so don't be too hard on yourself! If you want a plant that is actually hard to kill go for a pothos (which i once left unwatered for 2.5 months and it was fine) or a peace lily!

Omg, as an agriculture student this genuinely makes me excited. I should have expected that you guys wouldn't use a professional hydroponics set up but this is works really well too lol. Hydroponics in a sense is growing plants in water and giving nutrients through nutrient solution (aka the solution Jun made; usually professional hydroponic systems require specific nutrient levels but in a home grown environment this should work as well); Since there isn't a continuous flow of water (as in a professional hydroponic system), and while I'm not certain of your exact set up, I would be careful as algae/other organisms may grow. Regarding the plants that did not grow as well; are they the shaded plants? It is very likely that they may need more sun (since all plants need sun) so maybe try put it in an indirect sunlit position?
@fromAtotheZ4 жыл бұрын
If you look closely you can see that all the plants are actually at the same growth level i.e none of the plants have grown true leaves yet. This is actually a good example of shade avoidance response in different plants as none of them are getting enough light therefore growing tall and spindly. Your suggestion of giving all the plants more light is correct. Sadly as they have gotten this tall he might need to start over and give the new plants much more light from the beginning. He has however grown delicious microgreens and might as well use them for some of the amazing meals he prepares.

Wow, hydroponics sure have come a long way. One of the pioneers of hydroponics in my country was actually one of my high school math teachers, and times were different then, we had to go out and basically use anything other than potting soils and stuff, and like, the setups were really huuuuge, you have to have a large area just to put the irrigation system and all the bells and whistles, especially when it's just the circulating water and no soil or some solid root anchoring involved (aquaponics). But now we have teeny tiny methods that uses cute setups that can fit on your hands and small budget. I love this, I wanna give this kind of hydroponics a try. 😀😀😀 Thank you for sharing this video to the world. Also the sprouts look delicious lol 😂😂😂
