Oh, my bad. While Carnosaur is based off a book, I was talking about the Dinoverse joke HollyBlueAgitated was talking about. Dinoverse is an actual book series about a nerd who creates a machine for a science fair, only for it to transport him and several other students back in time to the Jurassic era and into the body of dinosaurs, where they have to figure out how to get back home. The first two books are a lot of fun. Have to read the third through sixth books again as they're a little bit different.

9:20 That's because Colin Trevorrow has admitted that this film only served as a set-up for the Jurassic Park film he always wanted to make - the dinosaurs on the mainland, or the full realisation of the second third act of The Lost World that Spielberg couldn't do back then.

Exactly. I thought it was a good decision they continued to portray her as a wild animal that was once tamed and partly trained (from early age), but is still a wild animal. I liked that she had enough of an emotional attachment to her old human buddy to help out a few times. Possibly the main dino heroine of this installment.

After this movie, they should just drop the facade of adding to the JURASSIC PARK "legacy" and just make an live-action DINO-RIDERS film. It will be dumb, but like you said, it could be the "good" kind of dumb. PS- the only thing I got out of this film was secretly hoping the Mosasaurus cameos in THE MEG.

If and when it comes out, it will likely star Kevin Sorbo being an atheist professor who hates God who writes books with Hercules in the title who gets hit by a car-sized carnosaur and miraculously survives. Following it, he wears colorful clothing, gets baptized by a discount Joe Pesci, builds a war room, and goes on Hannity to discuss terrorist carnosaurs and promote his light event that raises awareness in boys of "what it means to be a man." Surely a Dove Foundation hit.

I thought I was the only one that really didn't like this movie. I don't think it is horrible for everyone but for me I was miserable sitting in the theater on a Sunday morning. It was so boring to me because it is so damn predictable and has the worst ending because it was coming and you knew it was coming because they had to do it. Not to mention that I had a little shit behind me in the theater kicking my seat. That was just the icing on the crap show.

In an ethical standpoint, after seeing the dinosaur auction scene, I would've let the dinosaurs die on that island, even when the dinosaurs were suffocating I would've let them die, because there's no way they could live in the outside world in the current age of humans. They'll end up killing people or cause untold amounts of damage, it'll pretty much be like The Lost World, but much worse. Plus, the way how the volcano was tearing itself apart, I kinda expected the island to end up like Krakatoa and cause a giant mega-tsunami that not only kills the dinosaurs, but also the humans trying to escape.

Man this movie, I wanted to like it soooo bad, it had the bones of being something really good with good moral/ethical ramifications but instead they went with the " Dinursaurs are living beings and should be set fweeee!" and man is it all kinds of wrong. It seemed to be so hung up on pushing an agenda it forgot to be entertaining. The concept was THERE, but it got so lost. Also the anthropomorphism of the dinosaurs got so silly at some points it was like " Whut?" *-SPOILERS-* That one brachiosaur actually kinda' had me laughing up to a point " Like, dudes! Seriously, hold the boat! I'm coming but I've got these stumpy legs! Shit, c'mon yer not seriously gonna leave me?....oh....okay then..." And that whole scene was so clearly emotionally manipulative I felt annoyed at it...and sad, but it was clearly just meant to make you feel guilty. I was seriously hoping they would kill off all the dinosaurs at the end, it would have had so much more of an impact and really drive home the idea of how wrong it is to create living organisms for sheer profit. But nope, they had to add in a stupid kid releasing them into the wild to do untold amounts of damaged to the ecosystem and yanno' hundreds of people senselessly killed because....reasons? Like...why? " They're like me!" No...no stupid kid, they're not. They admitted in the first one these things aren't even real dinosaurs, they're manufactured to people's expectations and not even the actual thing.... ( Edited because I forgot to read before I posted and repeated myself a few times, XD )
@whichcache2517

{They admitted in the first one these things aren't even real dinosaurs, they're manufactured to people's expectations and not even the actual thing....} So the "stupid kid", who was actually a clone of some rich dude's daughter, is _not_ "manufactured to [his] expectations and not even the actual thing"? I find that very hard to believe.
@peludrax
@peludrax 6 жыл бұрын
She may be, but the thing is, she's not a dinosaur, saying " But they're alive like me" is a stupid reason. Plenty of things are "alive" but that doesn't mean they should be displaced into a situation they didn't ask for where they can cause untold amounts of damage and possible deaths, including their own. So yeah, she was a stupid kid for doing that. Also there is, as of this movie, no indication she's anything but a clone.
@whichcache2517
@whichcache2517 6 жыл бұрын
{She may be, but the thing is, she's not a dinosaur, saying " But they're alive like me" is a stupid reason.} No, but she is a clone. Like they are. Considering that the only alternative is death, it makes sense that she did that. It may not be a smart thing to do, but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that kids do dumb things all the time (remember that person who closed that car door in front of the T-Rex in the first movie? Oh yeah, she was a kid, too). {Also there is, as of this movie, no indication she's anything but a clone.} Yes, she's a clone. What's your point?
@peludrax
@peludrax 6 жыл бұрын
You seemed to be indicating that she was more than just a clone, a clone is a replica of a person, not an altered human being, that would be something else. You also seem to be taking offense to the fact I called her stupid, she is stupid, and pretty much criminal. Her reasoning doesn't negate what she did, as in potentially causing the deaths of hundreds of people and the extinction of the native fauna/flora in the area. Your argument is basically the same sort of thing you see with people who argue against culling non-native species. Don't get me wrong, I love animals, but I also understand that Burmese pythons don't belong in Florida, or feral cats in Australia. We put them there, its our fault, and its tragic that they are being killed because of our mistakes. If the movie had put an emphasis on that, it would have been more forgivable. The dinosaurs, by the way, are not clones specifically, because, again, they admitted they're not exact replicas of the dinosaurs, hence why they don't look like proper dinosaurs ( I.E. their way of trying to explain the fact their dinosaurs are in no way accurate to what we now know they look like) They're more Frankenstein's monsters based on dinosaurs. Anyhow, I'm text walling over the intelligence of not real clone people and movie dinosaurs, it is time, as they say, to stop *floats away*
@whichcache2517
@whichcache2517 6 жыл бұрын
"You seemed to be indicating that she was more than just a clone, a clone is a replica of a person, not an altered human being, that would be something else." Yes, but she's still a morally objectionable existence; a facsimile of a dead person who only exists to live out the glory days of some old dude's memories of being a father. It doesn't matter _what_ she's made of, all that matters is _why_ she exists. "You also seem to be taking offense to the fact I called her stupid, she is stupid, and pretty much criminal." Okay, she's stupid and a criminal. So what? Pretty sure we're gonna get into it in the next movie, so why bitch about it like the movie glossed over this point, when _Ian Malcolm himself is saying this was a bad thing to do?_ "Your argument is basically the same sort of thing you see with people who argue against culling non-native species." ... No. The "argument" being made is that if it comes to a decision of letting the last Burmese Pythons in Florida get poisoned to death, and letting them go free, it makes sense for the 12-year-old kid who likes snakes to pull the lever that sets them free. I'm not saying that her reasons are justified (and I'd appreciate it if you didn't shovel shit I didn't say into my mouth, thank you very much), just that it makes sense why she did it. "If the movie had put an emphasis on that, it would have been more forgivable." Did you just walk out the theater at that point and miss the part where Ian Malcolm condemns the action, the geneticists getting more samples, the Mosasaurus eating that surfer dude, or Blue looking over a suburban valley? The film focuses plenty on that. "The dinosaurs, by the way, are not clones specifically, because, again, they admitted they're not exact replicas of the dinosaurs, hence why they don't look like proper dinosaurs" Yes, they are not pure facsimiles of dinosaurs. However, they are genetic recreations of what people think of when they imagine dinosaurs, which still uses the same process needed to create a dinosaur. That's like saying that a fraternal twin isn't a twin just because it's identical, even though they were still born within minutes of each other. "They're more Frankenstein's monsters based on dinosaurs." To create a real-life clone, you take a somatic cell of the mother, then place it inside the mother's ovum (this is a simplified description of how Dolly the sheep came to be in 436 attempts). In Jurassic Park, they took the DNA from a protein sample of a fossil, the blood of a mosquito that existed near the same time (filling in the remaining code with other organisms), placed the DNA in an Ostrich egg, and it would work 1 in a 1000 times. It doesn't matter if they're perfect or accurate, the point is that they took some DNA and made something out of it that people in general think they look like (and the audience response of Jurassic Park III can tell you all about how people would respond if the clones were actually accurate...).

Waiting for this for a while. I'm probably going to get a lot of shit for it, but I actually kind of like this movie, because it was such an unapologetic B-movie. 9:45 No, they portray that as a very bad thing. That's why I'm pumped for the sequel. This movie plays like the prequel to a much more interesting movie, bringing up the ideas of *SPOILERS* bioweapons trafficking, human cloning, and dinosaurs freely roaming the Earth. The movie that I'm envisioning in my head 1) is probably way more creative and interesting than what we will eventually get, and 2) is basically The Road Warrior but with dinosaurs.

Don't worry, you're not alone. That's the same reason I enjoyed it. But I went in expecting it to be a campy monster movie, so I wasn't disappointed. Yeah, there was a lot of stupid, but it was enjoyably stupid. Like how Blue can now understand and respond meaningfully to complex sentences and the ideas being presented in them. And apparently physics and chemistry. (She's basically a human in a dino body now.) But the action scenes were fun, it got a few laughs out of me and it left me wondering what was going to happen now that dinosaurs are running loose through civilization. I was never bored by it, which is more then I can say for the last several Transformer movies or the last jedi.

Jurassic Park as series has always had a problem with the "sympathy for the dinosaurs" thing. On the one hand, yes, they are just animals, and aren't really evil. On the other hand, the entire point of the series is that any sustained human interaction leads to incredible violence. You can't tell me to feel sad when humans want to kill the genetically-modified murder machines that absolutely, positively, cannot live peacefully with humans.

I understand not liking this film, I don't understand the pure and unadulterated hatred from some or the pure love it gets from some others. The film was an average popcorn film that falls falt in the third act. I personally liked the built up and think the scenes on the island are pretty good, especially the underwater scene was pretty intense. I also liked the relationship between Claire and Owen in this one way more than in Jurassic World, especially because I actually believed there was something between them this time. For me that's mostly thanks to Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, the latter one I didn't like in the first one, but I really liked her and especially the two of them together in this one. I also think the directing and the effects were amazing. Call me easily to manipulate but that makes it better than "garbage" in my book. And I also liked how Rexy was actually indimidating again and how Blue was used to show that these are still animals and not just some killing machine monsters. I also liked the reveal regarding the clone and the general moral condunrum the film tries to bring up. And yes, there are a lot of problems with the film. Like I said, the third act falls flat. At first it's a fun dino-adventure which could go somewhere pretty interesting - but in the end it does not. While I think that auctioning off dinosaurs to the highest bidder and trying to exploit them for war would be something that we as a species would certainly do, the way its protrayed here is laughable. They clearly had no idea how to handle it - serious political and social commentry or satire? Thriller or action adventure comedy or animal horror? Even worse, nothing is ever addressed. The clone aspect should have been a major reveal and a major plot point in the film, but it's not, leaving the affected character as a useless side-kick. The villains might have had potential, alone due to their actors, but the script never did anything with them. The entire idea of having the auction had that estate was ridiculous. And at the end when the decision has to be made if the dinos are supposed to survive or not, there's no debate either. And that sucks, it sucks hard. I really enjoyed the first two acts. I didn't think this was going to be better than the first two films, and I'll always defend The Lost World as a totally underrated film, but at least it was on the track on being better than Jurassic World. But the end kinda ruined the film for me. I still wouldn't say it's a bad film due to the aspects I mentioned beforehand, but damn, it had so much potential for more. If I had to rate the film, I'd give it a 6 or a 6.5 out of 10 or a C, with Jurassic World getting 7/10 or a B-. Jurassic Park 3 is still the worst in the franchise for me, only getting 5/10 and with that a D+, while The Lost World gets 8/10 or a B+ and the original gets 9.5/10 or an A+. I know, long post, but I had to get that off my chest. PS: Since Brad brought up flat earthers - the film has a jab at creationists in it if you have caught it.

I thought Jurassic World was okay. Wasn't anything stellar about it but it wasn't terrible. First trailer I saw for Fallen Kingdom was during Black Panther and it looked good. I thought "Oh, they're gonna play with the setting for the second movie. Okay." Then I saw the final trailer and it looked awful. Like they were gonna do a whole bunch of stupid crap. Kinda sad to hear that I was right.

I call it The Venom Snake Effect. Where a franchise has deviated so far from its roots that the branding stops making sense. And the things that connect it to the previous entries (such as cameos) become surreal. (Those that have played Metal Gear Solid 5 will know why I called it that)

I just got back from seeing this movie a second time and I still liked it just fine. However it got boring in the middle after the island is destroyed and before the climax with the Indoraptor. Before this movie came out I knew it wasn't going to hold a candle to the first two Jurassic films and I was right. For me however I'm going to have to rank it as my second least favorite in the series (This is MY favorites list): 1. The Lost World: Jurassic Park 2. Jurassic Park 3. Jurassic World 4. Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom 5. Jurassic Park 3 I don't know, JP3 is still my least favorite in the franchise and the only one that I truly didn't like for a number of reasons, that's just me though. I still managed to find enjoyment out of this new Jurassic World movie but I admit that it wasn't as good as I had hoped. It's just an ok movie overall. Also I'm disappointed you didn't get The Meg trailer before the movie like I did Brad. I wanted to hear what your thoughts are on that movie just based on the trailer.

During the beginning scene on the island with the storm, where the guy turns around and sees the T-Rex and starts running for his life, I leaned over to my husband and whispered "You mean this island full of dinosaurs... has DINOSAURS?" My audience was not particularly riff-receptive, but I do recommend everyone see this with drunk friends and rip the crap out of it.

If you remember the Jurassic Park comic books from Topps Comics and look at it from that perspective, it's easier to see where this film's plot came from. Those comic books had a drug lord named Rafael who wanted to buy the raptors and make them his attack dogs, and crazy things like natives worshipping the raptors, Muldoon coming back to life, and InGen and BioSyn literally at war with each other. And with all this crazy stuff happening, still continuing the thread of ethics and chaos theory from the novel and movie. Trevorrow is definitely pulling from everything in the JP canon, especially the comic books, for the JW films. The idea of auctioning the dinosaurs off in a giant mansion to weapons dealers could've easily been done in the comics. And in the age of comic book movies, it's easy to see why Trevorrow and Universal went that route.

f they wanted to commit to the ending of all the free dinos, there should have been a montage of them destroying a nearby town. All the carnivores eating innocent children and family pets. The herbivores destroying people's houses and trampling people in cars. All while playing the iconic Jurassic Park music.

I was up at 3am to work, worked an 11 hour day on top of it and went to see this afterward. Normally under those conditons, if nothing keeps my interest and bores me, I'll fall asleep. This may not be the best ever, and I know fully well that no Jurassic sequel will touch the first one, but it didnt anger me as much. A few improvements over the first of the new Jurassic World series and of course a few things that shouldnt have happened, but it kept me entertained enough to keep me dozing off in the middle of it. Notevensorry 😊

I’m really surprised about how much people despise this movie when the box office and overall media reception is good. I have a feeling it doing so well overseas gave it Teflon skin... if it’d hit America first poor word of mouth would’ve made it DOA. Kind of hoping this thing just drops off now, since it’s made it’s money already.
