I love the original. There have been cases where i saw a remake and had never wanted to watch the original, but seeing the remake made me want to watch the original, i.e The Longest Yard & The Amityville Horror. I didn’t mind the remakes, but i did enjoy the originals a bit better.

Haven’t seen the original and was hungover as all hell at this movie. Thought it was decent. Watchable. Laughed a couple times. Almost cried when the little girls ran after the limo. Guess I wouldn’t have liked it if I’d seen the original? I’ll watch it this week and complain that it’s not like the remake. Yeeeeaaa. That’s what I’ll do! Nice! Alright see yu.

Like, updating certain aspects that may have not aged well (the corperate/technology parts of the original would be interesting to see translated for the late New Tens), but I could see the comedy parts suffering. I'll just watch the original.

Considering there was a Hindi film adaptation, a Korean show adaptation, I don’t know why we don’t get a comedic “telenovela” version. This movie hinted at the end that this was kinda like that, but if they had gone full outrageous Telenovela insanity and really played that angle it could have been really funny, just maybe not as a movie.

If Brad hated this remake, I will detest it. "Vacation" all over again. If you're going to redo "Overboard", get two leads that can pull off the chemistry effortlessly and still be comical much like Hawn and Russell. A good example would be Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling.

My 7 year old daughter calls red dead redemption 'the survival simulator' and always wants to watch us hunt animals but can't stand the skinning animation. my version of Overboard would be about an eccentric wealthy magnate recreates the Titanic. As the ship heads into international waters Chinese pirates board the ship thinking that the ship was from the U.S Navy going to try and hinder China creating fake islands. increasing China's manpower in the South China Sea. The pirates takes hostages and one person must resolve the crisis without causing an international incident and sparking WWIII.

The original Overboard felt creepy to me. This version (only saw trailer) did not look funny. As for Anna Faris "phoning this in" I wonder if while this version was being filmed that she was thinking of divorcing Chris Pratt or had just left him.

I haven't seen this movie yet, but I think one of the biggest missed opportunities in the clips and trailers I have seen was that they could have used this movie to make a serious commentary on the assholes who act like these kind of plots can't be gender flipped, that the premise is instantly creepy because she's the one doing it.I would have seen it just for that, but if it's the same movie with a weaker pairing, as well as a weaker script...

Of course, Sara likes the remake more than the original. They reversed the genders of the two main characters so in this movie all the awful things she hates from the original are being done by a blonde woman instead of being done to a blonde woman. I'm sure if Anna Faris was the victim of the scam rather than the perpetrator, Sara would hate this one just as much as the original.

Sony was caught deleting inoffensive comments from the trailer on KZbin while leaving the most batshit sexist ones. They framed the film that way, and gave the leads talking points about how only sexist manchildren in their moms' basements were downvoting the trailer. Of course, some of that was happening. Sony embraced it because they were worried about the film bombing. It was a bad line-a-rama comedy movie with no direction and no jokes. People treating it like some divisive thing is really the funniest thing about it.

Yeah right, that movie wasn't even worthy of that much. Was barely worth a glance on Netflix or network broadcast. That's what we call a near studio killer, a nigh franchise killer no less. I.E. It deserved the hate it got, yet you were finger wagging at the people, saying that it didn't deserve the ridicule, yeah, I am sure Sony also felt that way. That movie was a bigger disaster than Pixels, don't recall you devoting the Pixels review to telling everyone to cool off on that, in spite of disagreeing with critic scores. Don't even recall you telling people to cut back on bashing something like Transformers 3. You weren't exactly sheathing your fury against say, The Loft, either. A movie that no one fucking saw or cared about. Thanks for going to town on that one, Milton Bradley, that was clearly the one deserving of all the hate and the one to watch out for. This shitlicious, small, Showtime tier "thriller" movie that released 4 years past due, which no one had any interest in seeing. Such a brave reviewer you were, bashing literally who. Seemed like you guys just got fooled by some PR and were simply trying to crib a bit from the same campaign Sony was on, chastising the fans of the original Ghostbusters(The general public basically.), who bashed that sorry "modern" cashgrab attempt that was Ghostbusters 2016.

Or, maybe, and I'm just throwing this out there, it may seem far fetched...maybe, just maybe, I didn't think the movie was as bad as you do. And there's been PLENTY of movies that had massive PR that we've given negative reviews to. I said Ghostbusters was a "rental." I also said I don't plan on seeing it again. There's a buttload of things I said about that movie in the review, which was a long review, and I guarantee it wasn't mostly made up of talking about the response. Save a speech like this for someone who loved it, not "But you didn't dislike it hard enough!!" If my review quotes were on RT, it would be labeled as a rotten. I review movies based on what I personally think of them, not what the internet thinks of them. Sorry. And I sit through movies every week that make Ghostbusters 2016 look like Ghostbusters 1984. It wasn't a very good movie, but I'm not going to lose any sleep over it. Ghostbusters 2016 by the way was a way more ambitious film than the Overboard remake.
