It should better for future NOT to use 384-bit interface. 320-bit, 20GB, 18gbps GDDR6 with huge L3 cache should be more than enough for consumers. Jensen should be forced to resign, and it should be acquired by Intel or TSMC to become another IDM. The future GeForce should follow RDNA2/3 way. Reduce SMs, simplify SM architecture to single block of shaders, tensor core, and RT cores. Then bump up higher clock speed, and L3 cache between L2 and vram. Double VRAM capacity, and the flagship capped at 320-bit, 20GB G6/G7. Use JEDEC only. I would rather to see meager performance gain but more than 50% lower power draw. Then VR ready should be all the way from top to bottom of the stack. If you increase SM clock by 33%, rasterization up by 33%, RT up by at least 40%. 60 is the new 50, 70 is the new 60, 80 is the new 70, and 80 is the halo product. For pro workstations, the naming should be GeForce Pro Studio instead of RTX Axxxx. It should follow how Radeon Pro did

This is basically THE review as there was already very little difference between the 3080 and the 3080 Ti, so everyone can imagine where this product will land in terms of performance and power consumption. EVGA put up the basic XC3 version for 1399 euros (incl. 20% tax) which is already higher than the MSRP of the 3080 Ti so there's no surprise here. To be honest if you don't care too much about the performance when all the different ray-tracing features are enabled (lot of games only use it for shadows and lighting mind you) then just buy a Radeon RX 6800 XT for less than an RTX 3080 and call it a day. The second hand market will look crazy in a year anyway as most people will not be willing to sell their Ampere GPUs for half the price they paid for them...
@p0tat0o2 жыл бұрын
There's quite a bit of difference with the 3080 and 3080 Ti. You're confusing the 3080 and the 3090 here. The 3080 Ti two things: If looking at it as an alternative to the 3090, then it's a great value at only 2% less performance in gaming. If you're looking at it as an upgrade to the 3080, then it's a more than 10% upgrade at a 70%+ price increase, to which I hope I need not say is not a good value, but hey 10% is 10%. So no, there is a lot of difference between the 3080 and 3080 Ti, but even with that the 3080 Ti is not worth it. In Canada, where I'm at, the 3080 Ti makes a lot of sense actually, since even the regular 3080 can reach 3090 prices here. So when I bought my 3080 Ti, I was just like: "Well if I'm going to pay ridiculous prices, I might as well buy the best product I can short of the 3,000$+ 3090. So, I got the 3080 Ti. The 3090 is over 3000$ so I wasn't about to pay that and I only game, didn't need the beefy 3090 anyway. Again, this is all in Canada, where at the moment the 3080 Ti actually does make the most sense, since all the GPUs are so ridiculously expensive, if you're going to sell your arms and legs, might as well get a beast. Spending over 1,000$ for a 3070 to me isn't worth it when I can spend over 2,000$ for a 3080 Ti, which is a much faster card. Of course, 3070 and 3080 make the most sense at MSRP which we do not have.

As usual though, the idiots are suffering FAR more than the smart people. I saw the RTX 3080 selling for more than even the RX 6900 XT, a card that beats it and has 60% more VRAM. I cannot comprehend that level of stupidity, it boggles my mind. If you've got no card and are desperate for one, get the goddamn RX 6800/6800XT/6900XT and pay less for it! The very idea that people are willing to pay more for an inferior card just because it says "nVidia" on it is no smarter than people who only buy Apple products.

Well, I guess that's it for me with Nvidia. I am currently rocking an older 1080ti, but the next card will probably be an AMD card. I am also using Linux quite heavily and apart from the good performance, I don't see any reason why I should continue buying (overpriced) cards from a morally dubious company. There is no reason to stand behind a company with such an attitude. We as consumers should always buy what's good and don't buy what's NOT good. That's how we exert our economic power. It's the same with cars, for example. Many people buy cheap and crappy cars and then complain about them breaking down before their time or blown up engines. Simply don't buy them and stick to products that are reliable and make sense from a consumer perspective. Thanks for the video! It's good to see that reviewers are standing up against such a questionable practice. We must not let it become the norm. ^_^

Despite the 'marketing-only' comments about LHR, the cheapest 3070 LHR model pricing where I am actually dropped from ~$1200 down to about $800 which is only about $100 more than when I bought mine last year prior to when pricing became insane. Local MRSP with importation tax and VAT was roughly $600, where the pricing was about December of 2020. Mining really did a big number on pricing, so much that our retailers implemented purchase limits as much as possible, to little success since determined buyers would simply use proxies to purchase GPUs in their stead. While LHR didn't stop miners completely, it did dissuade mass buyers for some time, enough for stock to catch up and prices to lower a little. That said, I don't expect pricing to come down to actual MRSP very quickly, considering both scalpers and the current market condition. If NVIDIA and AMD's promises of improved stock pans out by midyear, we might get close enough to normal pricing.

@@TNM001 might be laughing at the costs, but when AMD has managed to slap 2 companies hard on 2 different market segments it really begs the question. Intel same again they have a DLSS competitor lined up. GPU wise AMD sits #1 here for both price and performance across an average (select games will ofc sway to either side) hence an overall average. the only advantage nvidia have here is "driver support" which is slowly going out the window with the CONSTANT driver problems they have had since ampere's launch (and I mean every driver since then) I wont touch nvidia again till I see actual consumer friendly GPUs, tech innovation (seems like only AMD does this)
