I need some help. I know we chain an even number of stitches. Then we crochet the first stitch in the fourth chain from hook. If we’re starting with 254 chains, should we have 250 stitches in each row. I want to make sure so I don’t lose or gain a stitch. Thank you so much! How do prevent the ends of a blanket from being wider due to crocheting over the ends this way?

Do you find that the edges are thicker / bulkier than the middle if using this technique?

I've noticed in my personal projects such as blankets the bulkier edges are negligible and the trade off of not having to weave in any ends in the end is worth it to me. But, if you are making a sweater or some sort of wearable that needs to fit you might not want to do this technique (which I do share in the video). It's all about personal preference.
