I only found out about these recently and I thought it would take too long for me to make a blanket for an entire YEAR, but I adore the idea and I think I'll give it a try. Another idea that came to mind was a mood blanket, figuring out the average mood I had every week and putting it in colour and/or texture to see what I'm typically like every week, and yeah, I think I'll try that

I'm doing one based on drawing daily tarot cards for 2024!!! It's gonna be a lot more random than temperature and I have 10 colors from browns, purples and greens in muted shades. I have 5 different categories for the cards: Major Arcana, Suit of Swords, Wands, Pentacles and Cups, and since you can read Tarot cards upright and reversed that gives me 10 colors in total. It's gonna be gorgeous!! I also decided to do different stitches for different card groups: 0-10 Major Arcana, 11-22 Major Arcana, Ace-5, 6-10 and Page-King. This way I have 5 different stitches to add a bit interest into the project and also have a more accurate documentation of the cards I drew over the year!!

I’m just on the outskirts of the capitol city of my state. Where I live feels so much different than the big city we are neighboring so I never equate the two temperature-wise but I guess we really are that similar. So blanket is not ruined. I can continue😓

@soarskai6 ай бұрын
hey girly, sorry i’m 3 weeks late but i truly do not recommend using hdc if you’re really dedicated to doing a row everyday, it will be like 9 feet tall by the time you’ve finished it😭😭 but for the width it really doesn’t matter, personally i just made a long chain and compared it to the size of my bed to see if it would be big enough and went from there 😋
@libbylandscape35606 ай бұрын
I’d make it to match a blanket that fits the bed, such as twin, full, queen, king. Most online stores will give the measurements of the blankets they sell…or measure your bed & decide how far you want it to hang over the sides. Or, it could be a sofa throw.

Oh thank you, I hope you enjoy it! And you can definitely use a chunky yarn, but you'll want to adjust your foundation chain to be shorter. If you follow the pattern as written using a chunky yarn you'll have an enormous blanket!

I really love all the tips that you give for this project. I really want to try this project but I am in Hawaii and we don't fluctuate much in weather esp where I live. I live on a drier side of the island so I don't get much rain. I think I would need to go by 3 or 4 increments do I have a nice variety of colors to assign to them. I have about 6 months to catch up on. I'm not sure what I should follow in lows or highs or the avg temperature of the day. My lows are like 65 to 68 and my highs are 80 to 88 roughly. How would you recommend in the way to track this?
@kamiifae2 жыл бұрын
I have the same issue in San Diego. I wouldn't do averages since it'll just keep the # in the middle without much fluctuations. I'm going to do the highs.

Does anyone ever do one row for daily high and a row for daily low? So, two rows per day. And I was thinking a row of white between months. Any suggestions?
@JustBeCrafty2 жыл бұрын
Hi Anna! Thats a great idea to do two rows per day. Depending on your gauge and thickness of yarn you'd might want to consider doing a 6 month timeframe blanket as two rows per day for the whole year would add up to a very lengthy blanket (365 rows X 2, plus any month separator rows) but I encourage you to make your temperature blanket your own, and make it however you envision!❤️
@bobbie-blu2 жыл бұрын
You could do the high and low for each day on one row by splitting the row in half. E.g. if your blanket was 100 stitches do 50 for high 50 for low making sure to always keep to the correct side of the blanket for each temp. That way you get a nice sized blanket with a different effect but all the colours will still coordinate nicely.

Oh wow, I'm so jealous! Hmm, you could do 3 colors with your temperature ranges being each 1 degree. You could also add in weather conditions, such as rain, storms, and dry days as well. Another idea would be to pick a different set of 3 colors for each month to change up the colors too. So for instance: February - 28 degrees = pink - 29 degrees = purple - 30 degrees = red March -28 degrees = blue -29 degrees = green - 30 degrees = aqua And then, each month could be separated by a main color, like white or another neutral of your choice. I hope this helps with inspiration for your blanket!
