Yes! Thank god for this video. I know CJC, Carli, custom offsets and a bunch of other pros have videos on this but as a RAM fan only this is critical. I ran 33s on my stock zero offset wheels for years and I loved it except I couldn’t do 12.5 wides instead LT285s as the tires would rub the knuckle! Scary stuff man when you’re going 80 on highway literally wearing away at the sidewall. That was a young and dumb (and cheap) me. Of course I’m talking about a 1500 here and not a 2500, but there are similarities and benefits to IFS when it comes to running neg offset wheels because the steering is so much better than a solid axle. Now I’m more of a fan of keeping the ride closer to stock so no large lift just maximizing performance and keeping truck with a lower center of gravity and maximizing ground clearance on 35s. When I have a 3500 I’d love to do an AEV, carli or thuren system with only 3” of lift in order to run 37-40s comfortably.

I have a question about wheels and tires for my 2012 ram dually 4x4. I don’t really like any of the dually purpose wheels available. Specifically the way the front wheels convex. I understand why they do but I don’t care about being able to run the rears on the front or vice versa by just flipping them around. What’s your thoughts on running wheels like yours on the front and getting the same wheels for the rear but doing offsets and a width that would not require a spacer and also would not stick out farther than yours do? I’m not opposed to trimming and running 11,5 or 12.5 wide tires. I have thuren parts on the front. And the rear is stock. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you for the content you put out. If your truck has a level, adjustable track bar and arms, 37s will fit on a 0 offset wheel with some metal pinch weld and fender trimming. I’d personally recommend swapping them for a +18 offset wheel to avoid cutting up the truck more than necessary though.

So, do your wheel offset specs only apply to a 3” lifted truck, or to a 6” lifted truck as well. Will a -12 offset, 17x9 with 4.50” backspace wheel fit a 37x12.5 on an 07 2500? I'm about to take the plunge and move up from 35" to 37" on my 2005 3500 ( currently a 3" lift). You mention early in the video your recommendations for wheel size (8.5" to 9" width) and offset (+18 to +25) for 37" tires. You then mention that you run a 5.5" backspaced 9.5" wheel that is about +6.8 offset and a 37x13.5". So I'm a little confused about the use of the two different wheel references (offset, then using backspacing). I think in the comments later you mention using a 8.5" wheel. Just trying to clarify before buying... I"m looking at a 17x9" wheel with a 5" backspace. Do you feel this will require too much trimming? With my current set up I'm already rubbing on the control arms. Thanks for any extra help!!!
@JustDiesels3 жыл бұрын
5” backspace is actually a little too aggressive for these trucks on a 9” wide wheel. It’s a little confusing since backspace, offset, a s width are all related to each other. To fit 37s on a Ram you need a 8.5-9” wide wheel with +18 to +25 offset. Stick in those specs and you’ll be set with very little trimming. Since my truck is outside those I had to do some decent cutting!

It sounds to me like you have the wrong wheel specs on the truck. My guess is that your wheels have a decent negative offset, which will cause rub even on a 5” lift. Your options are to swap wheels, go down to 35s, or just let it rub!

So I’ve got a Carli backcountry lift on a 2013 ram 2500 with a +25 offset 17” wheel. I can’t decide between a 37x12.50r17 and 37x13.50r17. Is there anyway you know if I would have to trim for these? I currently have mud flaps on that I would like to keep but if I have to trim for the 12.50 I would obviously be taking off the flaps. I would prefer to run the 13.50 and the mud flaps but I haven’t been able to get an answer from anywhere. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
@JustDiesels7 ай бұрын
You’ll have to trim for both, but much less with a 12.5 so if you want to keep flaps, that’s the better path for you.?

Is it possible to make 37x13.5r18 clear without any lift kit or leveling kit on an 18x9 +18 offset and 5.75 back spacing on a 3rd gen

If you’re okay with trimming, yes.

I have a fabtech 4.5 inch kit on my 06 will i be able to run 37's ok with your wheel specs? Im currently running 22x12 with 35's -55 offset and they rub at full turn
@JustDiesels Жыл бұрын
Yeah you’ll be fine. I’d recommend 0 to +12 for the best look on your truck.

I have a 08 2500 with a bds 3 inch lift. I'm mounting 37s on 18" x 9" method 305 with +18. Trimming I'm okay with but I'm hoping I don't have to buy the high clearance control arms. Do you have insight of much rub I might experience?
@JustDiesels2 жыл бұрын
You should be okay depending on what arm setup you have. If you still have stock arms, you’ll want to get something .5” longer with a bend or notch for clearance.
@overtimeoffroad15422 жыл бұрын
@@JustDiesels just got them installed. They clear the bds control arm for about 3inchs of up travel at full lock then they will rub. I'll play around with it tomorrow and decide whether or not to buy new ones. Thank you for your videos.

Question for you, I just put the Carli 3" with extended control arms on my 06 ram. I have 17" Trail Ready Beadlocks with with 4.5" BS...Can I do 37x12.5s with only trimming the pinch seam?
@JustDiesels Жыл бұрын
Since 4.5” BS is pretty aggressive, you’ll need to trim the fender liner plastic, pinch weld, fender, and front bumper to clear 37s.
@devwil52 Жыл бұрын
@@JustDiesels Thanks...ill measure the BS again to verify just in case.
@devwil52 Жыл бұрын
@@JustDiesels so I checked again…the wheels are actually 3.5” BS….how would that fair in your mind with 37x12s? I do have the extended control arms
@JustDiesels Жыл бұрын
That’s SUPER aggressive. With wheels that wide, you’ll need major trimming of the fenders and bumper. I’d personally sell those and move to a different spec unless you want to run fiberglass fenders. 3.5 is perfect with fiberglass.
@jasonminhinnick51883 жыл бұрын
So at 1:53 you could turn lock to lock and not run at all.
@JustDiesels3 жыл бұрын
Yep, it just barely clears. With how aggressive my wheels are I have a slight rub on the bumper when really bottomed, but it’s not bad. With a +25 offset 8.5” wide wheel I have ZERO rub at full bottom going lock to lock.

Would I need "significant" trimming if I run BFG All terrain 37x12.50R17 on Method 315 with 0 offset and 4.75" backspacing? 2006 2500 and 3" lift
@JustDiesels2 жыл бұрын
You’d beed to trim a decent bit, although BFGs run pretty far under the stated size, so less than what you’d need to trim for the same size tire from Nitto or Toyo.
@tmar312 жыл бұрын
@@JustDiesels Thanks for the info/quick reply. I'm guessing that I would be trimming the lower part of the wheel well by each door, correct? And do you think the tires would rub on the control arms?

It depends on how you use it. You can cram them in there for basic on/off road driving. Stick with a 4.5-4.75” backspace wheel no wider than 9.”
