My friend Buddy has a Cuban mom and he failed Spanish and she came to the school to chew him out, in Spanish, in a tirade so fast it sounded like a single, extremely long word. When she was done, he showed her one of our tests and she saw why he failed, and it's genuinely just because he answered questions like a real Spanish speaker would. She started reading what he was supposed to answer for one of the written answer questions, laughed hysterically, went to the office, and IDK what she said to vice principal but he no longer had a failing grade after that.

My daughter's best friend is Mexican, born in Mexico. She flunked Spanish (her family speaks Spanish at home) and her parents were angry that she failed...how??? Then they saw the homework assigned and realized that this was not "real Spanish." Her mom went to the school and straightened those situations out...Pronto! 😂

I just married a Cuban man and it’s so true that you can’t have a bad day. When I have a fight with my family and get depressed, he just says, “I haven’t seen my family in two years mí amor.” And there’s a video he has of his hometown that he makes me watch when I complain about money problems 😂 Edit: Wow, there are a lot of sensitive people here who think they know my husband better than I do. He's an incredible person who keeps things in perspective when I can't. Since being with him, I've started noticing that Americans are big babies, and these replies definitely prove it!
