The new Justice League movie is an extended metaphor for why it's a bad idea to make a Justice League movie. Also don't watch this if you're Joss Whedon.

One of the biggest issues in my eyes around Superman feeling so wrong is that he appreciates earth and humanity the way an alien who sat back and studied it would, and not like someone who has not only lived there, but it’s the only thing he knew for 99% of his life. Clark should be a guy from Kansas who just so happens to be an alien, not an alien that just so happens to be from Kansas.

If a disabled or neurodivergent person was directing a similar Superman story it might have come out nuanced and interesting, considering the brief but relevant depiction of Superman’s powers causing him actual distress as they developed during his childhood. Like, Zack Snyder’s Clark Kent would have been shunted into the Special Ed program if he actually had outbursts like the one they show in Man of Steel. So many interesting directions that experience could take a character in, many of which would have more organically introduced a tension between Superman as an othered alien and Clark Kent as just a guy from Kansas

My favourite underrated bad line of the movie is when batman is like "this box can bring life to a planet... but what if you're stronger than a planet" and it's meant to be really epic and like "oh shit he means superman" but like... what the fuck does "stronger than a planet" even mean, like how strong is a planet? My sister and I both started laughing when we heard that line because it's just so silly but when we googled to see if anyone else were talking about it we just found some nerds discussing whether superman actually is stronger than a planet and we were totally dumbfounded because... you can't compare a being to a planet like that, what are the metrics??? Like a planet can't benchpress anything so I guess I'm stronger than a planet too...

The Marvel and DC multiverses are actually the same multiverse, they just only touch at one point (and that point may or may not have been destroyed), meaning most superheroes are only able to stay on their "side" of the multiverse. The big elephant in the room is that according to the story arch. superman has only been around as superman for like 2 years. Half the people don't even like him according to BvS. So how could he be the fabric that holds humanity together? when he only showed up long enough to destroy half of metropolis with the bad guys and then die a few months later? Why would steppenwolf wait till the kryptonian was dead... He had only been around for like 24 months maybe... Because of the idiotic plot line of this whole series these movies are doomed for stupidity. You cant write story elements like superman has been around for 25 years saving people and at the same time only have him around for a short time. You cant have Batman be an old man and have cops act like they've never seen him before like its batman begins. You cant have Superman going after batman when he would know that Batman is working with Gotham police for like 20 years and they even have a bat signal in the sky. Its absolutely a completely screwed up mess of utter garbage.

Timothy Guy a good writing could have made it work. For example until superman turned up darkseid never saw earth as important l, indeed he saw it as technogically backwards and not worth the effort. Then suddenly because we of Superman and his battle with the Kryptonians, the earth military decides to upgrade its military to an extent where it is able to advance technogically in decades in just a few years (thanks mainly to the found kryptonian ship) seeing this darkseid sees earth from a primitive people to one who is capable of conquering his world. No t exactly comic based but at least there would be motivation and a theme to explore.

Richard G If you had died, then came back to life to find four very strong people, three of them complete strangers, one of them who was there the night you died and then got shot at by one of the strangers , I️ guarantee you would start fighting them, then when the man that tried to kill you and was possibly the reason that you died walks up and wants to be friends, one of the only people who can talk you out of killing him, or at least making him pay for what he did, are people who are close to you, hence Lois Lane, also the fact that Batman called her the big gun was alluding to the fact that she would be one of the few people who could bring Superman back and to the fact that she was his secret weapon if anything went south.

When I say "character", I'm really referring to the overall combination of delivery, tone, and general "vibe" you get from her videos. Nunya Bidness They didn't have to do that particular story. They have plenty of stories to choose from to have as their starting point. I personally think it would've been really cool if they each had gotten a solo film and in JL, the villians from each movie came together to form a group reminiscent of the Light from Young Justice. That way, it's original, it would flesh out all the characters (including the villians, which Marvel has really only done for Loki and the Vulture) really well, and each member of the JL would've had a really good reason for being there.

The origin of the JL in the comics is them forming to deal with an alien invasion. It is trying to be true to the comics, tho it wan'st Steppin wolf. But htey wanted to have alead in to a larger menace which is Darkseid. It is actually the Avengers who more or less took the JL's origin and copied it. The Avengers did coem together to deal with Loki but there was no aliens in volved in their origin.
