Does it? In the theatrical cut, Cyborg is malfunctioning throughout the film and doesn't have a full understanding or control over his abilities. In the Snyder cut, he's the master of the universe and nothing is out of his control. His auto-defense system makes the exact same amount of sense in both versions. None. But I'd argue it makes even less sense in Snyder's cut. I mean, why did the system turn off immediately afterward, once Superman *actually* becomes a threat? I don't see him shooting a lot of missiles in that scene after that first one.

He didn’t “reuse” any theatrical shots. Any shots that were in the theatrical cut that were also in the Snyder Cut meant that they were originally Zack’s shots.
@peterp21533 жыл бұрын
I think he meant that because of the aspect ratio change, that effects-heavy set of shots may have needed to have been backed out and then re-rendered. But because that’s expensive and time consuming, Snyder just had the VFX crew do some clever hiding of the stretching by using speed force distortions. Notice that unlike other shots where we get more of the picture in the frame, those shots have the same framing despite the crane now being thinner and taller. It’s possible that the VFX for those shots were already completed before Snyder left, so in reality it’s not so much Snyder Re-using theatrical footage, but Snyder Re-using his own finished footage but adjusting it based on the theatrical print for technical reasons.
@MHouston6023 жыл бұрын
@@peterp2153 No - Snyder shot the whole thing in imax ratio - Joss smashed down his stuff not the other way around. If you see the same thing in the theatrical that you see in the SnyderCut, it’s because it was already in the cut before Snyder left in March 2017. Snyder has never even seen the theatrical version - only what he shot and his vfx team worked on before he left. When he came back for the hbomax thing he picked up his work from March 2017 and went from there. Joss cut and reshot zack’s work but zack never touched a thing Joss did. Never. Snyder framed every shot for 4:3 as a way of giving the film a consistent aspect ratio when it would be projected onto IMAX screens. Interesting approach rather than filming 100% in IMAX (even though that would have costed a lot more). More interesting he decided to leave it that way for this release. I think it works regardless and find it amazing how he approached the cinematography like this

3:05 Actually Snyder said recently (I think on the CinemaBlend podcast) that it was framed and shot to be 1.66, and then compromised for the theatrical release being the widescreen format but that the home release was still to be 1.66. And then with the Snyder Cut and through he went for the 1.33 in the end.
@AtheistNihilist3 жыл бұрын
I think there is some fuzzy details there. I think the 1.66 was being contemplated maybe in preproduction. On set during principal photography, the frame was composed for 1.85. And we can rely on our eyes here - in closeups, see the top of the heads of the actors, their tops are aligned to the 1.85 line. If they were aligned for 1.66, their foreheads would be cut off in the 1.85 version. And secondly for the shots I indicate that are re-used from the theatrical, notice the their top and bottom, they are 1.33 extractions from a 1.85 frame rather than a 1.66 frame. All this leads to believe that while he contemplated 1.66, on set the one implemented was 1.85.
@SCOLT73 жыл бұрын
@@AtheistNihilist Check out that interview, he was pretty clear on it that they framed it for 1.66 - I was as surprised as you are but he's pretty black and white about it. 1.85 for theatres and 1.66 for home releases was the intention when filming.
@AtheistNihilist3 жыл бұрын
He has misremembered a lot of details throughout the entire process. So I would look for some objective confirmation for everything. We have the videos to look at themselves and make our deduction, as I highlighted above, studying the frames themselves, you can see they are framed for 1.85.
