I think he is a cheap backup QB with a unique skill set. He can be very useful this season. His chances of being the starting QB next season is really low but anything is possible. I like Fields a lot but he struggles with accuracy and he hesitates just enough that defenses can recover open receivers. Not sure that can be corrected. If they can correct those then they will really have something.

Sean Payton had PTSD looking at Russ throw 😂 Sean saw Drew Brees arm give out which cost the saints so many games and as a Saints fan watching Russ throw was so awful over throwing receivers, and forcing throws he shouldn't have thrown, his deep balls were okay, but Sean Payton did not want another QB with a deflating arm.
@truthseekersthenewomega97

So Sean deserve a QB, he can grow with them, Russ's ego over throwing passes and and forcing passes with a deflating arm is not really want Sean Payton wants and on top of that I do still believe the broncos were in rebuild mode when Russ was there, too many injuries at reciever and all across the board. So I do give Russ the credit for still coming to play.

Bears fan here. Chicago did Justin right. He wanted to go to the Steelers and that's where he went. I agree that while here they didn't do much to help him at all. DJ Moore was a start but then never got him a line to protect him. They also gave him probably the worse O-coordinator the league has seen. I'm excited for him to go to an organization that wants to win and has a very strong HC. I'll be rooting for him and waiting for the awesome highlights. Steelers fans will go crazy the 1st time he gets out of a sack and goes 75 yards to the house.

The final Bears game against the Packers sealed Justin's fate. If he would have played lights out in that game i've no doubt he would still be a Bear. He didn't and that's why he's gone. "They played three games that they completely blew in the fourth quarter" exactly, and people STILL haven't caught up to the correlation between that and Justin Fields literally being the worst 4th quarter QB in football, the most meltdown prone QB in crunch time since he entered the league this isn't Bryce Young, a happy meal soft arm niche QB, going to a desperate team that sold out every asset to get him in the door onto a garbage roster.... it's a strong roster, a near .500 team that has massively improved already, a team that has already been stockpiling assets and slowly building for the future, and now more than ANYTHING just needs that franchise QB to tie it all together, and just happen to have one of the highest rated prospects in many years sitting in their lap.... 1. The steelers have already talked about extending Wilson. 2. Everyone says, "What is Russ Willson sucks early on?" My question is , "What is he goes for 3500+ yards and 33+ TD's?" Go back and watch the games bro, he was forcing passes, passes that should have been caught or he would over throw his receivers or lead them into the coverage which is a no no, in today's NFL, now I do agree that Russ had no help what so ever with most of his receivers Injured. But at the same time Russ was not helping the young receivers because most of the times they look clue less on the field running ghost routes that Russ was leading them off their route or over throwing which is not good, as a Saints fan who saw the same thing with Brees and his arm pretty much giving out on him it's sad to see😢
@1972cd
@1972cd 3 ай бұрын
@@truthseekersthenewomega97 It also did not help that he and Payton were oil and water. Plus, Payton runs an offense that demands pinpoint accuracy (like Brees had in his prime). Wilson skill set doesn't fit that style of offense, hence some of his problems. His strength is play action passing and the deep ball. Even his harshest critics after last year said he still has one of the prettiest deep balls in the game. I would also add that Brees started having arm issues in his 19th and 20th seasons, Wilson is heading into his 12th season which is pretty early in the career to have serious arms issues unless an injury is involved. I will chose to be hopeful but the proof will be in the pudding, as the old saying goes.

Really? Your O-line sucks, your WRs can't catch the ball, average rb, at least get CW some help with this draft, fix O-line, get some WRs, RBs, playmakers then maybe he could get you close to 10 wins 🤔

As a long suffering Bears fan, I found Fields inability to operate from the pocket, make quick decision and see the field to be really frustrating. Look out Arthur Smith! You will be blamed for Justin's failures.

i hate the fields and russ comparisons. fields had way less talent until the trade deadline last year, and also missed multiple games. fields was flat out better, and was progressing. granted he didn't play well against the packers in wk 18, but look what that team did to dallas in round 1 and the niners in round 2. both much better teams than chicago. fields wins 10 games last year if he doesn't get hurt and it's not even an argument.

Chicago was definitely offered a 3rd and it was definitely from Philly but I like that they chose to (finally) do right by Justin by sending him to Pitt. He has a chance to start there while in Philly, despite being a similar archetype to Hurts so he’d be good to plug in when he got hurt, he’d never have a chance to start. Edit: it was also reported that Philly offered the 3 before getting Pickett

The Fields situation shows how if the franchise doesn’t believe in you, they’ll say you’re not good enough and quit you. But when Josh Allen wasn’t good the Bills dug in and got him legitimate help before they made a real decision

oh yeah not like the Bears passed on drafting a QB #1 last year (where a legit franchise changing QB like Stroud was available, who despite having an o-line of rotating 2nd/3rd stringers, a defensive rookie HC and WRs that most people never heard of somehow managed to still look great almost immediately, but yeah make more excuses for year 4 Justin Fields lol), not like they traded down and continued building around him and brought in a #1 playmaking WR while he still couldn't even throw for 200 yards per game and is literally the biggest meltdown artist in the 4th quarter/crunch time of any quarterback in the NFL since Fields came in the league like yeah, probably good reason to move on from him the year before he's due a big raise and draft one of the most elite rated prospects we've seen in years? or how many years should a raw project QB get to prove that he can consistently handle basic reads/concepts of a pro offense? 5? 6? 7? the dude literally complained about "being given information" being "too confusing" for him because he apparently expected NFL coaches to tell him "just go out there and react, don't think, don't study, just rely on athleticism" Josh Allen had obviously elite tools as a pure passer, Fields does not and never has Josh Allen got DIggs in year 3 and the progress he'd shown the 2 years prior exploded and took off..... Fields got DJ Moore year 3 and he'd still be lucky to ever throw for 200 yards in a single game excuses excuses excuses excuses, nothing but

Because the Steelers have such a solid team, which clearly only needed competent QB play to compete for the division, there is a good chance Wilson racks up a bunch of wins and wins a playoff game or 2. I just don't see that happening and then he leaves right away.

"Stronger draft capital" means a 6th this year instead of next year. If a team offered something significant they would have taken the better offer. It was probably from a decent team too, like the Bills or Chiefs or Chargers. Someone that couldn't afford a back-up because their team was stacked with good starters.
@mattcarberry368
@mattcarberry368 3 ай бұрын
exactly, it's just PR for a guy who despite being a sub-par QB was widely liked and respected... there is zero chance there was a 2nd or 3rd on the table and they were just like "nah we'll take a 6th because Justin is a great dude" lol this isn't reality
