That was the only, correct response. 😂👏👏👏 I’m sure that was a troll. I find it hard to believe that a long time true fan of The Darkness would write something like that. Anyway, their loss. I liked the video and the song. Maybe as a casual observer I should dig a little deeper into the band.
@rickl559615 күн бұрын
Oh cmon, you can't make what can easily be termed a controversial piece of art, and then tell people who didn't like it to F-Off. Many artists have done the same. I don't recall a lot of them telling people who don't like it of don't get it to F-OFF. Justin knew a lot of people wouldn't like it. He knew he was pushing boundaries, which personally I love. But pushing boundaries is not the be all and end all of good art. Some will like it, some won't. Accept all reactions because getting reactions is the point.

The video is vulnerable and bare and authentic and moving! Especially after following this channel and hearing about your personal journey. And I've learned over the years sometimes when art challenges me, it means I need to lean in and deal with that because I am about to learn Something! About the artist. About myself. About others. What a joy to be able to do that! PS, loved the livestream! 🙏

What colour would you call that..? Chartreuse..? Always love your fashion sense! I think I had missed most of the nasty comments speculating about your private life and choices; it's really none of anyone else's business. But it *is* interesting that that is where some people's minds went when they saw you in that video, as unpleasant as it was. I would reframe those comments as more contribution to the perfomance piece! I wonder whether I should have been more negative to encourage your contrarian nature! 😂❤

I will always love the darkness for a very specific reason. When Permission to land was released I was able to convince my parents to buy it for me even though it had a parental advisory warning on it. We put it on in the car on they way home and the colour that my dads face went when you dropped the first C bomb in Get your hands off my woman will always be ingrained on my memory!

I am new to your music. I stumbled upon this video while perusing KZbin as I normally do. I saw this androgynous, glamorous visage and was immediately intrigued. I had no idea what to expect. Was it some self-loathing, once-famous drag queen about to settle a score? A downed ex-diva purveying some profound advice? When the music started, the contrast was jarring and so satisfying at the same time. I wasn’t sure what to feel. It felt COMPLETELY NEW. Invigorating. Refreshing. I was falling in love with the persona. I watched it again. I laughed. Again. And again. Each time loving it more for a new detail I’d discover. I must have watched it 25 times. I was obsessed. I am obsessed. I shared it to my friends. They asked me if I knew that other song you were famous for? I found "I Believe…." I couldn’t -believe- I missed that. I love it even more than I Hate Myself. I am a fan for life now. Thank you for brightening up my life. I love your work. You are amazing.

This song has been popping up randomly in my head all week. It's so damn good! It's hilarious to me that people find this video off-putting or confronting. Maybe I'm just used to interesting imagery... The video complements the song perfectly in my opinion. There's a brooding intensity to the visual that contrasts the manic energy of the song. I think you've created a genuine "other" with this video. It's a character I find believable, someone who actually exists. I personally don't see you in there; it really feels like another person entirely! You disappeared. It's someone from another time and place. Very cool video!

Just watched this video for the first time, and I love the tune, even if the lyrics are a difficult listen (but that’s the point!). The video is great, such a seemingly superficial idea but the character you play in it clearly teaming with so many emotions. I also love the slightly detached way it’s lip synched so the obvious energy in the actual singing is played down in the performance on screen, again underscoring the possible detachment the character wants to feel. But most impressive is how you timed the thinnest cigarette to last for the entire duration of the song! Great work Team Darkness!
