John’s sharpness and his look into camera is so captivating. One can not underestimate how rebellious this was at the time. A lot of the girls loved Paul but a lot of the boys wanted to be John. John’s influence on popular culture was immense. We hung on to his every word.

Their hair was considered by adults as OUTRAGEOUS, and that they looked like girls, or they couldn't see their eyes! (my dad said those last two things during the first Ed Sullivan Show appearance, I was SO upset with him!

One of the best answers to a question was said by George. He was asked “what’s it like being a Beatle” He answered “what’s it like not being a Beatle “.

That is typical LIVERPOOL wit, I was married to a Liverpudlian and he was able to do the same thing, as well as his whole family. The people of Liverpool are wonderful, very quick witted and will take "the mickey out of you" if you give them the chance. That is what the Beatles did when asked all these stupid questions that were asked back then. I was a teenager then and we saw or read quite a lot of the funny answers they gave to stupid questions! I am STILL a Beatles fan, since December '63 when I was 16. Was FUN watching YOUR reactions to these funny moments. By the way, did you notice young DAVID CROSBY (at that time with THE BYRDS, and later CROSBY, STILLS, NASH and YOUNG) on the left side of the screen behind the Beatles, peeking out and disappearing behind the curtain. That was when they replied that they just wanted to write songs about prostitutes and Lesbians. If you would have been able to see that entire interview, the reporter ASKS the Beatles WHO that is back there, and they tell him. ALSO, the book that George starts ripping up when John is trying to read his poems, WAS John's FIRST BOOK "IN HIS OWN WRITE" which had just been released and that is why the Swedish interviewer was asking John about his book.

Liverpool has an extremely long connection with Ireland. Irish humour is known for being very quick and witty so thats where they get it from.

@@nigelmurphy6761 Not really, Liverpool does have a huge history with Ireland due to Irish immigration, but Liverpool still existed before that.

Many were anxious about men with long hair in the 60s. A friend was very angry he had to get a haircut for school pics in elementary school. Now he teaches children with autism how to play piano. He has a degree from the Ckeveland Institute of Music.

Dylan's early interviews could be pretty outrageous too. Someone once asked the The Beatles, "How do you find America?" One of them (I think John) replied, "Turn left at Greenland".

I remember an interview in the very early days in the US. The reporter asked them to respond to the rumor the really did not sing on the records. He asked if they could really sing. After about five seconds staring them down John simply said, "we need money first" and the place broke up laughing.

Why was the '68 John & Paul interview muted? You can tell John's brain was going way faster than the people asking him questions. Even when you can tell they were dead tired but had to go through with it anyways.
@trashandcheese3636

Perhaos it was muted so that the viewers would automatically fill in the gaps with "...instead of robbing a bank"/"...help people to help themselves - unfortunately they did just that"

This video stinks of Liverpudlian humour, haha. Have more wit than any bunch of people, you could meet. They must all grow up, with the humour flooding the house. The Beatles definitely had that trait, as seen in the clips. Great reaction btw!

The references to future Prime Minister Ted Heath would make sense if you were English. Class was overwhelmingly important in the UK in the 60's (and for long thereafter) and it was very much tied to one's accent. To keep or discard one's regional accent could mean various things, but one thing's certain, it would be politically.
