Justin, I love how patient you are with all the kiddos. You teach them so much more than just homesteading. Give him a job. I loved it. He had to have felt important, trusted and needed. :) you are raising great men, and a daughter that will know what kind of man she deserves in her life. Makes my heart smile.

Plantain is a wonderful healing herb! Works amazing for itchy bug bites and has other healing properties. We live in Northern Minnesota, so we use it on itchy mosquito bites the most. Takes the itch away almost instantly.

14:23 they do! Basil more so. You just need tons to mask the chemical trails of the vegetables. I successfully grew a little of everything this year by letting the basil from last year self seed. I planted my vegetable starts in the 10 x 2 of basil and the infestation of locust hasn't destoryed any. I just gotta keep the basil trimmed. The bugs take bites but 9/10 come up with a monthful of basil and they don't stick around. This is the first year I was successful growing any vegetabes and I owe it to the basil.

Do you ever use the elderberry flowers? In Germany, they are popular as liquor, as well as a syrup for making into a drink with fizzy water, or mixed with mint tea, or mixed with apple juice... there are also just candies with the flavor of this flower. It’s a very popular flavor.
