Yakisoba is a classic Japanese stir-fried noodle dish that’s seasoned with a sweet and savory sauce similar to Worcestershire sauce. Use any proteins you like-pork, chicken, shrimp, or calamari. For vegetarians, just swap it with tofu or shiitake mushrooms.

Yakisoba is what I HAVE to eat, when I am dying for a pizza. Let me explain. Yakisoba is SO not filling and it makes you hungry 10min after you eat it. So when I am too full to have a whole large pizza because I had a burger just few hours ago, I just eat Yakisoba. Problem SOLVED! I just wait 15min and I feel hungry again. So hungry that I can eat two large pizzas. I think that all that yakisoba is useful for.

Hi David! I hear often from my readers that they thought it's too scary to cook Japanese food before because it seems mysterious. LOL. Japanese main ingredients are pretty similar, so once you have them, you can make many dishes. I hope my KZbin channel and blog will help you cook more Japanese food at home (and they taste better than restaurants!) ;)

thank you very much for your recipe! I have cooked Yakisoba using a different recipe, but I had to change few ingredients and I think it came out a bit different from the original recipe. It was really useful to see how you cut carrots and now I know that all the ingredients that I've seen in the other recipe are really classic, so I am inspired to try cooking it again the proper way.

The amount of sauce is the result of "easier to measure" amount. You can adjust the amount of sauce based on the amount of meat/veggies - I don't want everyone to go through not having enough sauce toward the end of cooking. I think I mentioned that in my written recipe (www.justonecookbook.com/yakisoba/).

I know this is sort of a late reply, but I don't like ketchup either and I found something that might work just as well for this recipe. Huy Fong foods make a really delicious chili paste, You could use that for a base and use brown sugar instead of regular sugar to mimic the Ketchup. if you can't find that chili paste, Sriracha sauce should work just as well. Hope it helps, and thank you for your service!
