@jamesblonde2271 I had very ambitious plan to go down to 6/8. It's extremely hard and I think that I will finish up in dividing collection to two parts. Micro and sentimental watches (6/8) and more premium part. I love mikrobrands and I enjoy wearing them, but I'm also trying to find my taste regarding their older and more premium brothers. Some of watches from my collection belong to both groups. It's super hard to sell some of them, but I have to face myself and admit that quite often some of the watches don't get enough wrist time. They deserve more, and I know that the some of the new owners wear them and are really happy.

You're no longer just a watch consumer, Jody, you now also are a watch producer. You may have only bought 40 watches this year, but you sold many, many more . . . and may you sell even more in 2025.

For me it was the year I bought the most amount of watches I have ever bought. I bought some absolute bangers this year, and I wear all of them regularly. Casio AQS800WD (Beater watch for work as a technician) Casio W92H (the first watch I owned ever! Finally found one after having lost mine years ago) Timex T49626 Seiko Skx007 Seiko SUR319 Casio EFR-S108D Steeldive SD1970 This hobby is stupid and expensive, but man, do those silly things put a smile on my face.

Happy new year Dr. Jody! I bought only one watch this year. I picked up the newest Mudman. Sadly, I didn’t know a positive display model was available. It would be getting more use if I had not bought the negative display version. The only time I use it is in the dark when the automatic backlight makes it legible. No more negative display G-Shocks for me!

I thought I was bad! At 57, it seems I have averaged one watch for every year of my life. Also, when my dad passed away just over 2 years ago...he left me his collection of over 70 watches. I will never sell any of Dad's watches...However, I think I may need to sell some of mine. Dad bought some really interesting watches at a time when ETA 2824 and Valjoux 7750's were prevalent in some microbrands sold on US TV; during the early 2000's.

Thanks for the video Jody! I bought eleven new watches this year, plus six or so 1950s -1970s vintage watches. That's in comparison to maybe six watch purchases in the preceding 65 years. While I realize it's not 40 watches, I feel like I still may have a problem.

Nice work this year, Jody! Me, I bought 3 and sold 7. Made my first big purchase (brand new Tudor Pelagos LHD) that gets worn a bunch and already has plenty of wear marks. Also bought my very first safe-queen watch. A SKX009. Had one as my first watch, now long sold, so grabbed another one for nostalgia while I could still buy a new one. So I wear the expensive one and keep the cheap one safe in a box. Such goes the logic of watches.

The Grand Seiko is gorgeous, congrats on that one. Congrats also on the success which you and Mr. P are having with Erebus. I haven’t found the Erebus for me just yet, but I know it’s a matter of time because you guys are nailing it with the brand. Anyway, 2024 may have been a one watch year for me, my number came up for a Helm Khuruburi and I jumped on it. Cheers to you and Mrs. JOMW for making the move on the house in that particularly brutal market. Looking forward to more JOMW in 2025.

While I've always had an interest in watches I only started diving into actually looking into them and watching videos from people like your good self last year. I bought a Phoibos Eagle Ray as my first mechanical watch and then as a little reward to myself after landing a new job after a redundancy a Studio Underd0g 02 Series. Finally, wanted something cheap for wearing around the house that I don't have to worry about kids sticking fingers making all filthy/scratching etc. I bought a casio F91-W :P.

I got a few big ones last year and had to put the brakes on this year as I'm working on my master's now. I hardly have time to look at the watch I'm wearing anyways so I haven't really noticed. Did get an Ascent this year, but that was it. The bonus strap pack I got with that watch put new straps on 2 of my other watches, and I swapped a few bracelet/strap combos around. Solid year, I think. I don't want to have many more watches really, getting to the point where something should go if I want to bring something else in.

Off topic question for you Jody! La Joux Perret use the same or similar architecture as the Miyota 9000 series movements, yeah? If that’s the case, is LJP undercutting itself in the market for watches that use this movement? As I am looking to move myself in 2025, I can really relate to your financial situation. I bought more watches this year than I ever have before (mostly cheap quartz watches though), but as camera/photography enthusiast, I used to spend my money on camera gear rather than watches. That all changed this year - mostly because my camera collection is perfect for my needs now (and I work too hard to find the time to try out new camera gear anyway). That Hz01 looks like the type of watch, I would add to my collection first chance I get... My favourite new watch is a quirky one. The Komono Orson KOM-W4153, that I got for about 83% off the RRP as it was the last one in stock. Though my Orloff Dunes (Danish brand with a Swiss Ronda quartz movement and a steel bracelet, that can give your Berny competition when it comes to breaking bracelet resizing tools) and my Accurist Aviation get a lot more wrist time.
