The typical Christmas gift after that was a nightgown. At 75, my mother still needs ten of everything. If you need it, she’s got it. Around 1:08:19: the reasoning behind this is that by this time the child has already formed an attachment to the father. These cases are incredibly small in number. In my state, there are around 5 last I checked. That’s in the last 50 years.

As a child of divorce court, the conversation around custody is frustrating. It is not one size fits all. Joint custody is already the default in most states, but there are so many individual factors that go into custody agreements. School, work schedules, etc. Not to mention that most custody agreements are worked out in mediation, not prescribed by a judge. Getting sole legal and physical custody is incredibly difficult. It almost never happens. My father was physically and emotionally abusive, and even he technically got joint physical and legal custody. Honestly after the age of 12 or 13, I think the child should have more autonomy over choosing which parent to stay with.

It’s not that the quality of women is too low. It’s that the quality of people is too low 😅 before I met my husband my mom asked my sister and I why we were always dating losers and we were like “because that’s what’s mostly out there 🤷🏻‍♀️” luckily we both ended up with great men but it took time and patience. Anyone looking for instant gratification when searching for “the one” is most likely going to be disappointed. That’s what’s wrong with people today. They have a couple bad relationships and decide that every man is awful or every woman is awful. Heartbreak is just a part of the process. Sometimes divorce is part of the process and it’s unfortunate but not the end of the world. I divorced my ex husband because I found out he was cheating and he refused to stop. I guarantee you that there is a significant percentage of men who believe that the best thing for a child is to stay in full custody with the mother, and their child's best interest is why they don't demand custody. All of the people I know of inside and outside of my family that grew up as children in a 50/50 custody family have turned out much better then the ones that only got to see their dads every other weekend and a couple of Wednesdays each month. Even the ones where their parents hated each other. One parent Custodial arrangements should only be used when you have an unwilling or abusive parent. I’ve seen so many people that were raised by one parent by force of court that were brain washed into hating their fathers by their moms it’s crazy.
