I absolutely love the NP5. I've long called it a "hidden gem" because I felt it hasn't gotten the press it deserves. Lamp-based projectors can still be amazing, and the NP5 proves it! Awesome video!

I am a big JVC fan generally because of their incredible black levels and tone mapping. I've seen this projector in person and think its the best you can get at its price point. Great review. I learned so new things I had not previously known.

Looks great but I’m disappointed it still doesn’t have a 48 Gbps HDMI, for 12-bit RGB 4K 120Hz gaming on PCs. Also, I am still waiting for an updated model that has everything here but with 48 Gbps and Dolby Vision, since I am disappointed Dolby Vision is still rare for projectors. But since I want pure sharpness, I would go with an LG OLED, which has everything except HDR10+, 3D support and the larger screens of projectors. Also, 2.0:1 is older than you think. It was first used in the 1958 Japanese kaiju film Varan.

Great video. I’ve been waiting for more reviews on the NP5 as JVC’s lineup of laser projectors, for the most part gets all the publication. I have recently purchased an Elunevision 130” audio weave acoustically transparent screen. I am thinking about pairing it with the JVCNP5. Would this be a good match in your opinion.

$10,000 AUD is pretty darn pricey but it does look like a great projector. Well out of my budget though.

You forgotten to cover the bright corner issue and the color uniformity issue with closed iris, and why never to hang the JVC N series upside down, as its a factory garantee to get dust blop issues that can not be fixed. Also please cover sample tolerances that is so big that not 2 JVC projectors perform the same, and these lenses far from resolving 4K properly, some better than other, but the sony hybrid lenses do a way better job, so glas is not a quality stamp. out of the box these all have 1% ire elevated 100 to 200% if you measure a power gama response, making them look significantly more dull and undynamic in dark scenes than the older 1080P JVC projectors that was typically clipping 1% ire. So give us some objective data and stop selling this as something that is perfect. Lets know what tolerances you apply to specs and uniformity so we know what to expect, right now you sometimes get a 5 series that outperforms a 9 series, thats how poor JVC QC is these days.
