Dragonbreaks: • The MOST Confusing Con...
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is an open world action role-playing video game developed by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks. It is the fifth main installment in The Elder Scrolls series, following The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, and was released worldwide for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on November 11, 2011.
The game's main story revolves around the player character and their quest to defeat Alduin the World-Eater, a dragon who is prophesied to destroy the world. The videogame is set two hundred years after the events of Oblivion, and takes place in the fictional province of Skyrim. Over the course of the game, the player completes quests and develops the character by improving skills. The game continues the open world tradition of its predecessors by allowing the player to travel anywhere in the game world at any time, and to ignore or postpone the main storyline indefinitely.

He had a point there. I like to think of myself as sane, yet with the things I've been through, the fact that I never lost my sanity is insanity in and of itself. That is why I like Sheogorath so much, being allowed to act insane and turn people into a sweetroll with a staff is somewhat refreshing.

I can imagine his realm is like a minecraft world. It's maybe beautiful at the first look but soon you can see that everything looks the same. The earth has a always the same braun tone. The wind always blows from the east, All stones have the same size and form. Even the butterflies fly parareal to each other. The branches of the three have a perfect right angle to the stem.

I would too. which just hurts to say he's on the same situation merunes dagon is in such as , maybe not seeing them for millennia, which sucks. (not exactly the same situation , but it'd be stupid for him to show himself while he's so weak and can be killed much easier I assume , which would then put him directly in the same situation as merunes dagon)

I think you missed the obvious. He knew his curse was coming and thus put in motion the very chain of events to lift it before it ever fell on him. His curse would always be lifted...and no matter how many times he may be “vanquished” by the other Daedra, he will always rise again as he alone can see how these actions would pan out. There is a duality that you are missing...order comes from chaos...chaos comes from order. Neither can exist without the other.

I think potentially he's biding his time. If the other princes changed his form once, they may try do it again. If he wants to fight for order. He'd have to be ready for a response. Maybe he's waiting for the perfect opportune moment.

Would probably have to do with the one of the princes locating an artifact and the others wanting said artifact. Which would be the best time for him to make his move. When the other princes are in complete chaos attacking each other.

This take is perfect! I thought I knew where you were headed when I saw the title posted, and so you did. A belligerent fixation on orderliness that persists even in opposition to the fundamentally chaotic aspects of reality itself is DEFINITELY a domain of madness. I'd even go so far as to say that -to look at it from any perspective other than Jygalag's obsessive one - it's pretty clear that the other Daedra likely did not 'curse' him at all. In his fever to turn all of himself and his realm into a perfectly crystalized, static archive that is 'ever expanding'. All another Daedra would have to do is to summon the strength to protect the boundaries of their realm of oblivion(and the inherent volatility within it that allows for creative events to occur), and upon hitting enough resistance Jygalag would collapse into himself. Instead of an outward focused avatar of a cognitive madness(obsessive compulsion), he is 'cursed' to spend time embodying the emotional forms of madness(mania and depression). These volatile emotional realms are EXTREMELY volatile, very creative, things are always happening. Sheogorath(the inner fundamental emotionally-centered core of the daedric prince) loves it like this, but the repressed Jygalag is miserable and the pressure mounts until he eventually bursts out and destroys the play-world built by his emotional body while he was dissociated and subsumed. The "era" they talk about is however long it takes for this to happen( ala Mob Psycho 100, as it were).

What the hero of Cyrodill does in the Shivering Isles DLC is, as far as I can tell, one of the most interesting and metaphysical important tasks undertaken in an Elder Scrolls DLC. Fundamentally, what you are doing is Mantling a *very specific part* of a Daedric Prince: the emotional body which calls itself Sheogorath. By Mantling one part only of a whole but fractured Prince, the hero is allowing the dissociate plural identities to exist in a stable form *at the same time*. You are helping the Prince of Madness carry his own madness, and the two(?) of you are in a unique position to experience the Aurbis in an entirely new way and learn things not even imagined by the Et'Arda. You are stabilizing the emotional realms of Mania and Dementia(depression), and so now your Mantled Daedra - in the form of the obsessive compulsive peak of his madness trinity - is freed from his compulsion to purge and destroy his emotional world and instead able to go on a walkabout Oblivion to finally get a little space from himself. Perhaps he will learn a whole new Way of Walking out there. Perhaps, as Lorkhan did, walk all the way out to the edge of everything (tidying up as he goes but never staying long enough in one place to do real damage), turn around and look toward the Tower that is both a hub and a spoke... and understand it in an entirely new way yet.

Madness is relative... It could just as well be argued that it is the deadra that are mad and lacking will and proper foresight. Perhaps even Mundus is a cradle of madness, which lacks the perfect order. It's a conundrum, and I suspect purposely so. I just hope Jyggalag does not return as a single minded pursuer of order, but rather as an almost impossible to understand god. Much like his flipside Shenogorath.

I see Jyggalag as existing on the border between sanity and insanity; his actions that of a madman, but his reasoning for doing so totally sane and rational. He knows all there is to know about everywhere and everywhen, including the futility of his actions. He knows also that he is going to do those actions anyway, and that to try to resist what is already predestined is in itself futile. Worse, to try to defy the natural order of things would be to embrace what he hates. In this sense, he was already cursed from the very beginning. To desire order, but to know that it can never be so. Yet, doomed to try and fail forever anyway. Sheo's defiance of this combined with his creativity were the only thing that could set him free. There is a certain irony to it; the very thing he hated and stood against was ultimately his salvation. Sheo was Jyggalag's madness personified, and yet it was his madness that eventually broke the cycle and cured Jyggalag of his madness, setting him free. The two now separate and distinct individuals, perhaps Jyggalag was able to embrace free will as it's own form of natural order.

Shenny was never entirely mad, and Jyggy was never entirely ordered. They needed to have been each other to fully become who they meant to be and that is why he didn't go on a rampage. maybe because why Jyggalag is so extremely powerful is because his circle of oblivion, Order, is something that is abstractly all encompassing, compared to other's whose spheres revolve mostly around mortally emotional concepts, like rape, deceit, war, betrayal, violence, disease, knowledge, etc. This makes Jyggalag a natural one-up against every Daedric Prince who wanted to toy with mortals

I like to believe Jyggalag is still out there rebuilding what he once had. But he has taken an entirely different approach. Rather than in the direct spotlight and being seen I believe he is amongst the Daedric Plains rebuilding but in total secrecy. I believe he will not allow what happened before to happen again, nor do I believe he has given up on his original plan.

I think it would be very interesting if Jyggalag mantled Trinimac and transformed the Trinimac loving fanatic orcs into a force of pure order on tamriel. I believe it would be his best fit. For him realising his madness for what it is would cause him to want to change it. And there is nothing more orderly than an Elven Aedra.

It is a logical Fallacy to assume that because someone can know or predict something that they are in any way capable of effecting it. It is entirely possible that Jyggalag could have predicted his downfall and be unable to prevent it. Also note that Jyggalag says "Mortal...? King? God? It seems uncertain. This Realm is yours. Perhaps you will grow to your station." It is very clear that he is uncharted waters. It is highly likely that anything that happens after he is/was cursed could not be predicted as the very nature of the curse is counter to his methods of logic and deduction.

Fudge Muppet, I have a video topic suggestion that is also a question I have. What determines why a Dedric Prince is so obsessed with certain qualities. Such as Azura being the Dedric Prince of dusk and dawn. How did that come to be? Whats the origins? I also wonder this about the other Daedric Princes and The Nine Divines as well. Or have you covered this already and I javmt seen it? Save Jygalagg and Sheogorath.

One could say that their spheres are swapped. In a land of absolute chaos, like Oblivion, madness is the natural order. Thus Sheogorath is the price of order. In this same world of chaos, absolute order would be seen as madness, as it doesn’t follow the natural order. Thus, Jyggalag is prince of madness.

7:30 I don't think Jyggalag is conscious within Sheogorath, nor the other way around. I think each form merely retains the memories of the other. 13:10 There is chaos because the deadra are chaotic. Every realm is a reflection of it's master. So Jyggalag's realm would be orderly because Jyggalag is. 14:10 But he got what he wanted. By destroying the Shivering Isles enough times, he *was* freed from the curse. As was only logical, since Sheogorath would rather let him free, than be forced to remember destroying his own isles again.

I see order and chaos as being intrinsically entwined, sorta like life and death. Things cannot exist in constant perfect order, just as life struck a balance with death in an eternal cycle, order balances chaos as they each come in turn. If jiggalack wants constant perfect order he is stupid. The natural order is cyclical he should know that things falling to chaos is really the herald of a new order to come. Even in defeat, he is victorious.

Here's a theory: what if the cycle of the Greymarch was never actually broken? What if, instead of marching off into Oblivion, Jyggalag found his consciousness trapped inside the sword, that very sword that was left behind for the new Sheogorath to pick up? What if he couldn't be separated from his own Daedric essence (the Shivering Isles) after all? What if over time, while the mortal Sheogorath ruled the Shivering isles, wielding the sword, Jyggalags consciousness and essence seeped into his, creating a split mind with two personalities fighting for control? This would explain several things: 1. Why Jyggalag is not seen or heard from at the time of Skyrim and why he hasn't resumed his place as a Daedric prince (he's STILL Sheogorath!) 2. How the mortal who assumed Sheogoraths place could wield the power of a Daedric prince (in essence, he and Jyggalag have become one: making him the TRUE Sheogorath) 3. Why Sheogorath is as mad as he is (wouldn't you be mad if two minds were constantly battling inside your head?) Also: being a Daedric prince trapped inside a mortal mind, forced to play second fiddle to their whims would be a maddening thing beyond all else. 4. Why there are Golden Saints and Dark Seducers keeping a kind of order and stability on the isles, despite order running counter to Sheogoraths nature. 5. Why the Greymarch keeps occurring. (over time, the body and soul of the mortal Sheogorath wear out, releasing Jyggalag in his original form) What if this is the same way Jyggalag was turned into the madgod in the first place?

Jyggalag pretty sealed his fate when he abandoned a realm that is his. Every plane of Oblivion is an extension of every daedric prince that rules it; part of them. By giving up the realm of madness, he has given up a part of himself, even though he could have easily reshaped it however he wanted. Vaermina for instance, she could if she wanted to make her realm into a place of wonderful good dreams, sure it wouldn't emulate what she represents, but she could if she wanted. Every daedric prince could with their own realm. Jyggalag could have just remade the realm of madness into the realm of order if he wanted. But instead he gave it to another mortal which in turn made them into a daedric prince, course I doubt the CURRENT prince of madness could reshape the realm like the others could. As long as Jyggalag walks Oblivion without a realm of his own, specifically the one he gave up, he will stay as the weakest daedric prince of all of them. He may as well be a Dremora at this point. Until he gets it back, his Order will never come. And yeah, he likely saw the futility of his goal, and likely expected the others to reinstate the curse if he did reclaim his realm. If anything he could be seeking atonement from his creator, a walk of atonement if you will. Or he has simply given up and will likely never return. Either way, gotta wonder what his reason was for defying the original plan. He should honestly be the Daedric Prince of Irony just considering he wants Order, even though he disobeyed that when he became a Daedric Prince. If he had stayed an Aedra, then he could rightfully call himself "Of Order".

I think Jyggalag was not insane, more he was repeating the cycle to keep himself occupied, whilst waiting for the variable. He mentions how the position of the player is uncertain. He does so in a way and tone of voice that betrays the thoughts of "I've never actually been uncertain about anything, this is weird." With that being said, it's possible that he knew we would come one day, the way he explains everything to us seems like he's been practicing it for a while. He k ew we would come one day, he just couldn't see beyond our influence. I think this is due to the curse being broken at this point, and thus his ability to see. We essentially took his powers. Now with THAT being said, I don't think he's actually weak. Far from it, I think he's still the most powerful. You don't have that kind of knowledge, that kind of influence and that access to power, only to lose it forever. He has something up his sleeve, it's impossible that he doesn't. I think he hasn't attempted his dominance campaign for one reason, as stated, he realized his true sphere is chaos. Think of it, in order to bring order to a nation, one must plunge it into the deepest depths of chaos it has ever experienced. Perhaps he knows his sitting aside is allowing his sphere to grow unimpeded, and that the other princes curse ultimately will work against them by elevating jyggalag once more to supremacy, except this time he will.be Supreme from both sides, with no angle to truly attack. Order or chaos, he rules Supreme. If I were him, that would be my end game.

I hope Jyggalag will take a more prominent role in TES6 compared to the other Princes. No doubt after being split from Sheogorath, his power was diminished; to make an assumption in the interest of simplicity, perhaps 50% of his original strength. Additionally, with no realm and few followers, he would need time to gather himself, explaining his absence from Skyrim. There is room for greater complexity within Jyggalag. Perhaps the first major instance of character development for a Daedric prince? I different approach to order. It would be a shame to see him bash his head against a wall trying what he had in the past, though it would lend credence to his truly mad state of being.

Order is madness. Chaos is the master of all things, and all we can do as life forms is stall the entropy until our cells give out. And so, the same logic, order is also life. The reason Jyggalag is so powerful is that he needn't do anything to expand his sphere of influence. The simple fact that are living beings is the cosmos is a testament to his order. Maybe Sheogorath was always a part of Jyggalag, to represent the futility of fighting entropy, and the Daedra only brought that to light. I think by the end of the Shivering Isles, he finally freed himself of Sheogorath, and in doing so, realized that he was already powerful enough to just stop squabbling like the children the Daedra are.

Jyggalag was called by himself a prince of order, Ambition and Patience. But in truth he actually was a prince of perfect madness, Chaos and Persistence. A Prince who after some time simply went so mad/Crazy that even without a curse from the other prince's created a side of him that we know as sheogorath. And sometime after he pissed of all of the other prince's something like. I am better than you, you are useless boring and weak. And my 'workers' are more effectient etc and kept looking down on the other Prince's. And also sometime during this shit he also attacked their realms with his armies. And he did it only because he was infact just that mad/Crazy and had finaly succumed to its darker nature and they knew it. And then Jyggalag was not just 'stopped' But also as revenge etc he was cursed by the other Daedric prince's to create a kingdom of his own madness, and then destroy it with 'his technology and magic with his perfect order' And he could not be released as long as Jyggalag won or Sheogorath did not surrendered. And after several time's of this happening Jyggalag and Sheogorath was in a sense like you said 2 beings of a coin. But one part of that coin had enough of it all. The only way for the grey march to end, would be for the grey march to lose, or for Sheogorath to admit defeat or both. But sheogorath could not even hope to make his people either defeat the grey march, nor him surrendering as sheogorath. Because at the end of the day 1 a Prince would be involved, and only a Prince or Prince+ 'level being' could possibly defeat a prince. And Jyggalag's nature would not allow him to be defeated so easily. So what did the Mad Prince do? He got creative, he invited mortals to find a champion a worthy one and instead of just making that champion a champion for sheogorath. He made it possible for said mortal to actually at the end of it all become sheogorath. Not just wearing the mantle of Sheogorath's power. And he did this, without Jyggalag actually knowing of what was going on untill it was too late. Quote: if an unstoppable force meets an immovable object what happens? Answear they surrender. In this case Jyggalag could not defeat Sheogorath champion, and Sheogorath champion could not defeat Jyggalag. So when Jyggalag surrendered, Sheogorath technically did aswell because Jyggalag was both Sheogorath and Jyggalag. Sheogorath could not 'surrendered' he was never there during the grey march in the other time's. Nor could Jyggalag's nature allow him to surrender/not invade to a weaker opponent. So the champion was given the Power and in sense status of a Daedric prince, but he never was the daedric prince during the battle. But afterwards after the battle he became the new Prince of madness Sheogorath.

It’s a matter of perspective really: To conquer is to limit someones freedom. When you love someone, for example, you could simultaneously want the best for them - most of goodness, beauty, justice and freedom in their lives… …yet somehow still want to restrict some of their choices from time to time - limit their very same freedom that you ultimately are supposed to maximize for them… Weird, isn’t it? 😂 I mean, what is the proper answer for this contradiction?

TINFOIL HAT TIME!!!! I feel like Jyggalag, Malacath, Peryite , and Maridia would team up to kick the crap out of the other Daedra. They all have a focus on maintaining order in one way or another. Jyggalag represents cosmic order, keeping everything from falling into chaos by destroying those who would bring chaos. Malacath represents social order, by upholding the oaths mortals make and delivering the curses set upon them for breaking their oaths. Peryite represents the natural order, creating diseases and releasing them to test living creatures and make new opportunities for evolution by killing off the weaker species. Meridia represents the order of life and death, destroying those who would exist in between the two states of being. The 4 walls of the Daedric House Of Order.

NurturingTalents Yes to all except Namira. Her sphere wouldn’t offend Peryite, being able to eat the dead/rotting and live through disease is actually the strategy of one of his favorite types of creatures; scavengers, like the skeever. I’d go with Sanguine as the foil to Peryite since opulence negates nature. In a world where everything has exactly what it wants, nothing changes. That would displease the Little Dragon.
@Im-Not-a-Dog

NurturingTalents Although I feel like Hermeaus Mora could work as an alternate to Sheogorath. Inaccessible knowledge, no matter how plentiful, isn’t orderly. Plus it causes madness if you do manage to access it. Jyggalag would want this to be cleansed. Sheogorath is more of a wildcard anyways. He’s just as likely to screw with the other chaotic Daedra as he is to screw with any of the orderly ones.
