Agreed. I'd actually argue that being a little "out of tune" actually enhances the performance, considering the song's about being hungover as fuck and lonely and depressed. An out of tune performance actually suits an out of sorts feeling.

If you have perfect pitch, out of tune is like nails on a chalkboard or a dentist's drill.

Yeah right. Kris Kristofferson's Dad was a Major General in the Air Force and Kris Graduated from Pamona college and receive a Rhodes scholarship to Oxford University where he got his Masters degree in English literature in 1960. He then joined the Army in 1960 forsaking his New Masters degree and flew helicopters in Germany. What a country boy.

Always loved this song. I’ve seen folks perform it a little too fast. The temptation is there to speed it up but you’ve got to let the chords ring out and give folks time to think about the lyrics. Always have done this song on my 6 strings. Just might give it a whirl on the 12. 🤔 (Oh, and hide the kitchen knives before you start performing) 😉

@oddsteven I didn't mean it too seriously. Obviously I have nothing to base that accusation on. I think any one who plays guitar half decently knows that there is no difference. Most people don't even know how to tell it apart in recordings. It's surprising how many players don't know Nashville Tuning is.
